I have started threads on here before re Rob Green but what I cant understand is this:every goalkeeper makes mistakes and they nearly always cost the team but the mistake in the world cup was basic stuff of which you dont see every week. Now not many keepers make that sort of error and yet MH sees that mistake plus the drop catches that occour once or twice a month and the inswinging corner that nearly caught him out at the end of last season and still brings him in at £50,000 a week. I think MH is a good manager but that decision baffles me.I would rather we got Jaskalinen, excuse the spelling !!!
Not sure why Rob Green has been so poor for us in pre-season and today I think he should start next week but he needs to look more solid in goal or I would think about Cerny against the scum
Let's give him time. What is truly pathetic is the idiots singing for paddy Kenny! That'll do his confidence a load of good. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be there. It's one game with almost a new squad. He was woefully exposed but the team needs time to bed in.
I am not calling for his head or that we replace him, as we all know the first 4 or 5 games always throw up results like this but the more I see of him the more I think of Calamity James.
I don't think it's time to throw i the towel on Green just yet - he was a bit of a sieve today, but there was not a lot of help from the defenders at least after the half. Not as it was televised here anyway 37 nmore to go and frankly, I'd be worried if I were Swansea - Bolton opened our season last year, thrashing us at LR and look where they are today
Near the end of the first half we scrambled those two chances off the line. Wasn't one as a result of Green weakly punching the ball about two feet back into the melee? It all happened too fast, not sure if i was seeing things!
You could be right. He'd probably do better as a fan - did as much spectating as we did today! Problem for us is, he was butter-fingers against Persebaya giving them their first goal; managed to catch a cross against Augsburg and wander outside the box leading to another goal; and was found wanting again today, certainly for the first goal. I know our very kindly people on here say we should give him a chance but maybe he should give us a chance and do what he's paid so handsomely to do - or do us all a favour and pack it in. No smoke without fire - as Nines should be saying!
Give him a chance? Sure, put him in the reserves for a month. However many great saves he will make one thing is certain: He will **** up big time, he always has and he always will.
Whatever they saw they were obviously looking at it when they should have been organising the defence.
