yeah I suppose they're already well equipped to deal with the hammerings you lot might get this year!
Chesh you must remember a few seasons back when Norwich lost 7-1 first game of the season, straight away they sacked their manager(Bryan Gunn) installed the manager of the side that thrashed them(Paul Lambert) and promtly won the league title. If in the next week Delia lures Martin Jol to six fingered land i'l be lumping on Norwich at 25,000/1
At least Howson, Snograss & Johnson will be returning to Elland Road shortly. Playing for Norwich in the Championship next season (unless we replace them of course)
It's a little unfair to be mocking those 3 players, or us for signing them, as two of them did very well last season for us. It's at the back where our real problems are (as it was last season) and someone needs to get it sorted out pronto. We were trying to push up the pitch and keep Fulham in their own half, so we succumbed to a series of long balls across the top and it was bloody painful to watch . Now, if I can see it, hopefully Hughton can see it to and fix it If he can't fix it, perhaps we are screwed.
My dad lives in peterborough so I've seen them a few times, I still can't believe you spent £3m on Ryan Bennett. Horrendously overrated, he's getting found out big time in the premier league.
Perhaps but hopefully with the experience he is going to get he will improve. Still a young lad with a long way to go I know, but most players had to start somewhere. It may be a case of needing to get another PL experienced CB before the end of the month and RB will play a "bit" role as and when needed for cover for injuries or suspensions. He did not look out of place at the end of last season but then again the defence were as poor as they were yesterday, I would not point the finger at any individual player yesterday as it was simply poor from front to back and a severe lack of cohesion. If Hughton can organise them better perhaps even RB will look okay once again.
I'm sure he'll improve in time, the question is do you have the time to wait for him to progress? Depends how highly you value premier league football I guess. I thought Russel Martin looked good for you at CB last season to be honest! Maybe he'll move in there when Whittaker can come in at full back?
Do you have the time to wait for him to progress? Yes, if the rest of the defence plays well, even if one other is having a bit of an off day I think he can cope but I would imagine most teams would have a hard time of it if more than half the defence were having an off day.
Elmo, you are talking ****. I know we don't see eye to eye on almost everything but I really thought you were better than the "when they leave Leeds they were **** anyway" brigade.
Is it fair on the rest of the team to carry a player who isn't quite up to standard though? If say, Hoolahan was in terrible form, you wouldn't persist with him, because he won't benefit you by playing. That's just the way I see it
I understand what you are getting at but part of our problem is we don't have many alternatives that are any better in the CB role, hence I hope and pray we get an experienced player in this month. If we don't recruit someone then I can only hope the defence starts playing as a unit once again. I cannot pretend that I am not a little concerned, because I am. It was there last season too and we kept just 2 clean sheets all season. The Hoolihan example is unfortunately not a particularly good one to make as we have loads of options available. However, had you said Holt, that would be a very different story. Same as the defence, we are a bit limited with alternatives that are regular goal scorers.
I think its the manager to be honest, I don't rate Houghton at all. I think if Lambert had stayed I would have said he would have got your team playing better as a UNIT. If they had stayed with us they ould be working under Warnock who knows how to get the best out of players and work as a UNIT. I hope that you guys stay up and we get promoted, it would good to play Leeds MK2 (Norwich) in the EPL sorry couldnt resist that.
I doubt Snodgrass will cut it long term. Lack of pace is a problem for a Premiership winger, more so for Norwich as he will not want to leave a large contract In my opinion Howson remains a class player and I imagine he will follow Lambert to Villa in January, once the writing appears on the Carrow Rd wall and its cash in time.
