Time to take a deep breath and start again. Defeat in our first game is unpleasant, but hardly a crisis. 37 games remain to gain the points we need.and I'm sure we'll get them. All of these knee-jerk negative comments are totally undeserved and frankly stupid. If we lose the next nine games, then fine, we'll have something to complain about. Just keep in mind where we were a few seasons back! It'll be interesting to hear what Mr Hughes has to say though.
Why we playing one striker on his own, that hardly got a look in??.Why did we end up with 5 midfileders in the middle and still leave huge gaps in the middle??...rubbish
But come on, we have to look at this in the right context. A loss is not something that would tick me off like this but this....this is a new low for the team under the guidance of MH. Early business done, full pre-season, at home, strong squad. It's not a deja vu because last season, we had a championship team with a heap of signings yet to be done. This however is the team that could carry us through the next 37 games! Disappointment is an understatement and I would really like to hear MH explain this one.
The right context is that it's just one game. I wasn't comparing this squad to last seasons opening line up, but the score line itself. I won't deny that it's a disappointing result, but a tad early to push the panic button!
But with a squad as experienced as this one was today, we should've been able to hold our own and not be run over. With all due respect to Swans, they played a good game, held onto the ball well in the 2nd half and we were made to chase which broke us up with holes everywhere.
Agree, we should have been good enough. But as long as we sort it out for next week at Norwich then not too much damage done. Virtually a completely new team is going to take a few games to settle down, but not too many I hope.
Taking your advice HE. Breathing in... and out. In... and hold... and out. Ah, that's much better. Something about the Brixton air that makes you forget... and gives you the munchies!! Who we playing next again?!!
Hardly a surprise though is it? When people live in a bubble and that bubble gets burst, their reaction is always going to be extraordinary.
I've read Hughes blaming the players saying it was an unacceptable performance He has to take some personal responsibility to a worse opening day defeat than last year when we had a technically worse side - that is the real issue I want to hear about Norwich away and then city away - conceivably 0 points after 3 games going on our recent results there
