Diouf has been holding the ball up really well, but once he decides to move he goes down far too easily and takes away any momentum that the move had.
Diouf and Austin were immense. Diouf hardly lost the ball and went past players with ease. Could be too early to say, but he looks like a positive acquisition. All round good solid performance. MOT!
Battling performance, very little flair but a win and a clean sheet proving we won't be easy to beat. Did not realise Diouf was as slow as that, he is like a HGV truck trundling forward. Can see why Warnock wanted Kenny, very commanding and aware of what is going on and personally Austin would have been my man of the match. Not convinced with White or Byram or Varney and Green - Hope to see Peltier, Lees, Pearce and Drury/White next game and fingers crossed Warnock gets some dosh to by us a replacement for Varney and Green. Very hopeful of Byram for the future though and good that he got the first league game tucked under his belt with a win and part of a team that kept that clean sheet
Varney had a couple of good touches, but his first touch is pish poor. Green didn't do anything for me, perhaps that's because of what he is meant to do on the park and that is get the ball.
Remember Byram is unlikely to face anyone as good as Jarvis for the rest of the season. With that in mind he did very well.
Agree 100% with McAllister, Leeds need a creative midfield player who when they need someone to get the ball and create things, he can do this. We can't battle for 46 games a season, so we need that player with creative skill in the midfield.
I thought he did very well, a couple of times he was beaten for pace and the awareness of Jarvis, but on the whole he competed and showed he can play at this level. This game will increase his confidence 100% and we can only benefit from this.
I'm very happy with the result, and I'd agree Austin was incredible and would have easily been my man of the match. Byram had a good 20-30 minute spell either side of half time, but did have a bit of a shaky start and a couple of questionable moments in second half, but all in all a decent debut for him. White still looks better going forward than defending, but I imagine he is learning a fair bit from Drury in training. As for Varney / Green, thought Varney was OK, as boab says poor first touch, but didn't think Green stood out as being particularly good or poor, first time I really noticed him was when he started struggling with the injury.
i actually thought green's energy helped our tempo in the first half and we missed him after the break. Peltier, pearce and austin all did well. Norris showed some nice touches, but we went hoof ball in the second half particularly and the game passed him by. Only new signing who was disappointing was varney, but he put plenty of effort in. I guess we got what we expected, hard working and solid, not much flair. Good win though and just about deserved. If diouf spends more of his gym time on cardio and less on weights, he might do a job.
ohh it's one of these clowns who think "you're not a leeds fan if you don't get behind the team regardless of whats happening". I agree with elmo on most of his points so I'm going to stick with elmo.
