    I did say <whistle> he might mitigate the need for a non ACON striker (not that they'll be going anyway). Nice for Good and Haris too.

    Thats a good start to the season for the youngsters, obviously some of them are trying to prove they have what it takes to get into the first team.

    2 brilliant things about this - aside from the scoreline:

    A lot of these lads are gunna get a run out mid-week in Europe AND the strength of the U21 team implies that Pardew is confident in the fitness of his senior squad players (Cabaye, Tiote, Colo, Ba, Cisse) and that means they're more than likely gunna be involved today!

    Gotta say I love a good geordie fairytale, Shola and Campbell tearing it up in (the second tier of) Europe would make me a very happy man, two local lads showing the world how it's done. <ok>

    God I should never be a football manager, I'd be sending out teams of schoolboys just because of the local romance.
