to get behind the team ............. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11701/7999546/ Tony Pulis has urged Stoke's fans to back the team this season as he fears complacency could become a problem at the Britannia Stadium. The Potters faded to finish 14th last season with some supporters disappointed with a campaign that had promised much in the autumn. The home atmosphere has been key to Stoke's success and the club's manager has called for more of the same ahead of their fifth Premier League campaign. Pulis said: "It's been a great four or five years, it's very difficult to keep giving and giving and giving so we have to be careful we don't get blase about it and that people don't expect too much. "Gradually we're putting things into place that this football club could never have dreamed of and we mustn't get too greedy. Staying in the Premier League is our target. "That will always remain the case because if that happens then we generate the income the football club needs to reinvest. Test "The big test this year will be our home support and how much the supporters get behind us. They've been absolutely wonderful, so we don't need them to get complacent. "I think they have a responsibility the same as us to really be on the edge, because you need to be on the edge week in, week out. We do well because of our supporters at home." It's a tough start to the season for Stoke with games against Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool in their first eight fixtures. Pulis added: "We've had tough starts but I think this is most probably the toughest we've had. "You have to accept there's going to be a run of fixtures you look at and you think, where are the points going to come from?" Basically translated into we are poor away from home and nothing will change again this season so shout very loud at the Brit to create an intimdating atmosphere in the hope we nick a win!
Letter to the management. Dear Miss, You have had plenty of time to sort out the defence, the midfield and the tactics. How come it's our resonsibility to do a job that you are being paid handsomly to do. Get your finger out!! signed disgruntled from Gloucester
Waddo Thanks bud I had'nt seen this... shock feckin horror when I read.. The fans need to get behind us We can't get carried away. Don't expect too much. Giving, giving, giving?? Giving WHAT exactly Tony! Then I read the last line err What the hell.. "You have to accept there's going to be a run of fixtures you look at and you think, where are the points going to come from?" Another message for Tony Pulis. What does that kind of statement send out to US the FANS? Does it fill the team with confidence NO it certainly does not. Is it saying we're wondering if we're actually going to win a game before a ball is kicked.? YOU BET it is. What a total BELLEND. Great Management I think not. Tony Pulis you can JOG OFF.
Never seen a more negative manager in the whole of my life. Us fans get behind the team by parting with our hard earned dosh for season tickets etc. I don't need to shout to show my passion! Pulis is always looking for a fall guy!
NON of us needs to be told to " Support the team" Waddo fully agree with what you say above... Got my S/T ages back YOU Waddo? I sincerely hope you changed your mind mate and bit the bullett so to speak!
Well sorry Stokielad. I do not want to revisit places like Grimsby, Bury, Plymouth etc quite honestly. We should have won today and for 5 of the last 10 minutes with 10 men given the stupidity of TP in not taking him off before the inevitable happened. Playing UTD last year was uplifting and we got a point. The same happened against ArseNIL, Chelsea, Man City. We played well aginst all of those to be honest at home. We even beat Liverpool! So shoot me down, I would much prefer to see those teams come to the Brit and our beloved team pit their wits against them, As for support I think the support was great today and we sang all the way through. TP does not need to ask us to get behind the team. The team has to help us get excited and to shout louder. 3 shots on target, but there was plenty of intent today and Walters even tried a left footed effort which was blocked. On another thought I also think that TP lacks personality and the knowledge to talk about any thing else given it seems that the same message each and every time. It is so repetitive it is becoming boring!
