I think Coulibaly travelled on the ressies coach GH10. Shame, I'd like to see him given a chance as well.

Rumour (from twitter) has it that neither Dawson or Huddlestone travelled. Jenas and Caulker definitely travelled.

I also think Coulibaly has more potential than Kane. To be fair, Kane may make it eventually. But I was watching whichever Europa league game it was last year, and his first chance he missed an open goal. I thought, that's the kind of thing that can destroy a young player's confidence. And sure enough, even though he'd been scoring a lot before, barely anything since. Pretty good technique, I'd say, passes and holds the ball reasonably well, but a little slow and not a great athlete. Lacking confidence, as I saw him in Baltimore, he shouldn't be on the field. If he ever gets a goal or two everything could change.

looks like AVB has seen something you all missed, if he thinks Kane can be a PL striker.

Dawson didn't travel due to a family bereavement.

We'll see about that. I predict he won't make it as a Prem striker, but naturally hope I'm wrong.

It would make sense in one way for both Kane and JD to play, but that would mean dropping a more talented player for Kane in order to make up for JD's deficiences as a lone striker.

I suspect if Kane plays it's more a reflection on ENIC's business model than AVB's belief in him.

Don't see Kane making it as a top premier league striker as normally when a youth player is pushed into the first team due to lack of options in the first team they tend to just disappear over time.

He could well be a late developer and progress over time but for that to happen, AVB will need to believe in the kid and stick with him over the next 2 seasons at least and see if he does progress.

Anyhow I don't have any issue with Kane being part of the first team but I hope fans aren't expecting much from him this season.

What is going on with Huddlestone? Oblique references on twitter to respect needing to be earned, and saying he is fully fit but not being involved is all a little strange. I am an unavowed fan of him (think he should be playing or England) but its starting to look like AVB doesn't fancy him.

If AVB starts with Jenas over Huddlestone then he should be sacked on the spot.

Huddlestone did more in pre-season vs Pool as a sub, than Jenas has done at all since we won the CC.

As I said in another thread, we have quite a few players in the mid ahead of Hudd, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was sold.

JJ might be one of them I'm not sure on that, he can certainly play the athletic pressing game that apparently AVB likes far better than Hudd.

Regardless of JJ, we also have Sandro Livermore Parker VDV Siggy Bale Lennon Townsend chasing the five 'mid spots' - 7 of those I would rate ahead of Hudd. If we get in a replacement for Luka, it pushes Hudd even further down the line.

If we don't get a 'Luka replacement', then I would hope we'd keep Hudd. Unless he wants to leave of course, then we'd still have Carroll to promote, plus I'd love us to get in someone like Dempsey, and he'd push Hudd further down the line too.

    <applause> completely agree boss.

It's just a huge risk if it doesn't work out. It's not fair to put that sort of pressure on a young lad either.

To only sign one other striker is very risky and naive IMO. 1 injury as well as Kane not living up to expectations and we are buggered.

Hopefully the talk from AVB of " we only need 1 more striker" is tactical in the hope other clubs are watching and will lower asking prices. 3 strikers, one of which is a youngster, and 4 competitions to play in, is absolute suicide IMO.

Having supported Spurs for over 30 years I have learned to face a new season with quite optimism , regardless of who is playing.
We are Spurs and we always do the unexpected.

I really don't understand the criticism of ENIC on here. Since Levy has been chairman our league position has averaged at about 7.5 and there are only a couple of periods in history when we've done better than that over an eleven year period. If you allow him a few years to get things sorted and average over seven years then our average position is 6 and the only time we've ever bettered that over a seven year period is towards the end of the sixties/early seventies.

When ENIC took over they were handicapped by us not being in the CL and more recently by Chelsea and City having massive sugar-daddies. I reckon we've built an excellent squad and have a good chance of getting in the CL mix for the fourth season running. All the time we have had a robust business. Realistically, what more could they have done?

I really hope AVB can see sense. Huddlestone is second only to Modric in our squad as a creative deep lying midfielder.

He and Sandro could seriously boss that part of the pitch, especially when we don't yet have a replacement for Modric.

Hi PS, for a start off they could have done better than one Carling Cup in 11.5 years. That's our worst trophy haul for over 60 years, you have to go back to 1950 for a more barren period.

Secondly, we still have the same lamentable 36 k capacity that we had when they took over. Yes they are making strides on that one now, but until the stadium starts getting built as opposed to a supermarket or flats, I'll keep seeing that as a big minus.

    3) IF it's true that RA wanted us, or indeed any high rollers since, they should have stepped aside and let someone who can compete at the very top take us over.

    4) They've ****ed us over a treat this window, and made me dread the new season rather than look forward to it.

Apart from that- they've done quite a good job

How can Hudd boss the pitch when he moves so slowly? To me AVB has seen sense if he wants a high-tempo pressing game, as Hudd can't play that role.

I like Hudd as a player, but I like Livermore better ATM. If Hudd can get fit enough to get around the pitch at a reasonable rate, then I'll happily change my mind.

In Siggy, Bale and VDV we have plenty of creativity, with more to come from Lennon off the bench.

    5) we lost today, partly/mainly because they couldn't sort out out a decent striker for us,
