Every one in this country, man woman and child, should be made to watch and then we all discuss in detail what is on BBC2 at the moment, then they may truly appreciate how lucky they are. Close the pubs and off licences for a night, pull Celebrity Big Brother, bring down the internet, twitter, mobile phone networks and god forbid facebook. They say "lest we forget"...............well too many have. A very poignant docudrama - last night Paralympics program was good - this was just as good, BBC2 earning its licence fee money.
Not true - based on a novel by John Boyne, but very thought provoking Sombrero, well scripted and acted by all - thanks for the contribution.
Oh bugger....... I thought it was true. Brought a tear to my eye though. But I can't help feel there was a bit of sarcasm to your reply?
When I first saw this film, both me and our lass were left dumb struck... A very moving wartime film from a very different perspective..
Is shown in senior schools over here as part of human race awareness studies. All the more poignant as kids from all parts of the globe get to see and discuss it. Both my grandaughters got interested in WW2 - even though it was for a short time.
I don't know how to check that. And I still don't know if you're being sarcastic! If there was no sarcasm intended, I apologise for doubting you. Whitey, I'm getting like Gordon Armstrong here!
Schindlers List ......a very long movie , superbly acted and well scripted and really pulls at the heart strings. More poignant for me as i watched it when serving in Bosnia. I thought this movie was excellent and brought a tear to my eye as well.
I haven't been in touch with Gordon for a while..He was posting on JA606 and I used to go over there now and again to keep in touch..However, it was so quiet on that site that I just stopped going on.
To be honest, North Korea is such a secretive country that no one from outside really knows the truth of what goes on behind its borders..
Not an excuse really, it's not hard to find stuff about them from defectors and the few people who've escaped. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/19/AR2009071902178.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-Satellite-photos-death-camps-deny-exist.html
Don't take my comments as some self-righteous campaign to rid the world of evil and that we should invade North Korea It just annoys me when people say 'Oh the Holocaust was so bad I hope nothing like it ever happens again' when there is stuff going on like it right now in the 21st century.
I have never wached Schindlers List having read the book years ago, just didnt think a movie could top the book.
Didn't think film was patch on the book. Anyone into that type of story should try reading "The Book Thief" or "Sarah's key" two cracking reads
Sorry Sombrero mate - I don't know how to be anymore honest or sincere with you. There are some interesting sounding books on here - hols in October - I will pick up one to get into.
