Bet you rather have a bitch in charge than Chainrai. Glad he's been hounded out of the picture! Back to the issue, I see the Trust are apparently stepping up to the plate and it looks like they may have 'till Dec to gather pledges in. Got to be a better option than Harry, Chainrai, Aquaman, invisible sheiks or Lampitt. We we're so lucky with Marcus. I'd imagine most Pompey fans response to the news of a multi-billionaire arriving on his white charger would be increased twitching of facial muscles and a muttered "here we f**king go again".
This Harry thing has more going for it than you might think. PS is also involved. Not sure about how he would feature but he was at the game the other night and let one or two things slip re. his and Harry's involvment. Let's face it, Harry's managerial career is now probably over, so what better challenge than PFC? He still has strong feelings for the place as well as being just up the road from home. Makes perfect sense in some ways.
From when have you been privvy to "insider info" BP? Come on - spill the beans for those of us who cannot make it tomorrow.......
BP has come up with good "insider info" before. If Harry is there, I reckon he would be fairly safe, BUT, if PS turns up, he could well be lynched by a baying mob........
We seriously have to ask ourselves..... Is a HR/PS involvment what we want? I for one think not - we need to distance ourselves from ANYONE who has been involved with us since MM. But then again, it is Harrys actual money on the table and not someone elses! Just my opinion though!
I completely agree with you. As far as I'm concerned these are another 2 individuals that I want nowhere near our club. I hope there isn't any substance to this as for me now, it's either the Trust or bust. And I'm still not entirely convinced the numbers stack up for the former (although they have my money!). Otherwise, it's just going to give us all unrealistic expectations (and would hope that most Pompey fans agree with this) but the best we should be hoping for now is some relative stability. If that means hanging around the lower leagues for the forseeable future then so be it. Plus if there is one thing that Jamie Redknapp's Dad has shown over the last few months, it's that he's very careful with his money (and Rosie's). Quite frankly - what possible reason could there be to invest any money in us at the moment? Your chances of getting a return on that investment mean that only those who genuinely care about the club would be prepared to do so - unless there's another Russian oligarch out there. Hopefully this doesn't sound pessimistic but I don't want someone riding to the rescue. I want a fiscally robust club that does things in a very boring way without making too many headlines for the wrong reasons. I'm really hoping that the Trust can achieve this.
Agree with you FFD. Harry does have a soft spot for PFC, and if he is now retired from managing clubs, why not buy one ?! Alternatively, introduce a consortium (excluding Storrie of course) to buy the club, or work with the PST in running it. God knows, we need financial input !
I doubt whether it'd be Sir John Halls given the fact that he's 79 and suffering from incurable cancer so that leaves, I think, Freddy Shepherd. On that note, Shepherd was linked with a £60million take over of Newcastle in 2009/2010.
bornpompey mentions on another thread that Kenny Shepherd was in the Directors box this afternoon. Son of Freddy ? Wasn't he secretly filmed saying that all Geordie women were "dogs", at the same time "bleeding Newcastle dry" by paying himself a huge salary ? If so, to my mind, do we really want his type of character at Fratton Park ?
That was the guy yeah. Sir Bobby Robson also accused him of undermining Newcastle by focusing on the playing side and not investing in the facilities. I think he'd be fine as an investor so long as he's not calling the shots. And anyway, beggers can't be choosers, and if he's prepared to put money to secure the future of the club in then I'd welcome him.
