This time a year ago, we were entering a Premier league campaign with a Championship side. Myself, along with many others feared the worst, it didn't take long for those fears to be confirmed as reality when we got thumped by Bolton at home.

Twelve months on and our squad is the polar opposite, full of quality and experience. How times have changed, and in no time at all!

and who made the change happen? we are very lucky to have a chairman like TF and the Mittals represented by AB, best times for the club in a very long time.

    True. So so true.
We don't have a team for tomorrow, though. They've all booked sick.

The funny thing is, I think there has been a thread of the same title on the eve of each new season for the last 3-4 years.

But this year is by far the most apt. I know that like quiet a few on here, I did have my doubts about TF when it was announced that he was on the verge of buying us, another F1 buddy of Bernie and Flav, but with a lot less money than Mittal. I think I'd still prefer to have Mittal and Amit in overall charge, but TF and his Malaysian buddies really seem to have caught the Rangers bug and thus far have been true to their word in every aspect.

I did wonder what their priority would be, squad? Youth set up? Stadium? Which problem would they tackle first? Well bugger me, they've gone and done them all at the same time, but the fact that they are looking at all the basic stuff with as much importance as the team, shows that they are here for the long term and although none of the current board are making bold and sweeping statements about 4 year plans and European football yet, unlike Flav, it is clear from what TF said about wanting to feel the experience he witnessed at the Etihad on the last day, he wants us up there and I don't think we'll be seeing things getting boring at Loftus Road any time soon.

Honest, I believe that run in and last game made TF a committed supporter. Strange and lucky.

Totally agree. They do seem to here for the long haul, although you never know. But what a complete turnaround in expectations from the fans. This time last year I couldn't decide if it was a good thing we were promoted or not, having a fairly good idea what was going to happen to that squad of players week in week out. But this season, I really can't wait for tomorrow!

I am hugely excited right now!

The difference since last year is quite simply staggering. Every member of our squad (bar Ephraim) has PL experience - and 15 of the 24 have at least 3 years PL experience by my reckoning. That is amazing to think where we were before!

So lucky to have an owner like TF who genuinely cares for the club and the fans. He has delievered every single thing he had said, and we cant ask for more than that.

Yet Oddball had that team finishing Eight! He's got us down for sixth this year.

Considering he was nine places out last year, that means we'll finish 15th this season. :undecided:

Would be interesting to see how we handle the expectation this season. According to the prediction comp we're firm favourites to smash swansea tom but I think it will be a tight cagey affair. With all the 'incredible' bit of business we've done we still don't have a midfield for the game. Excited? Absolutely. Confident? Not if Derry starts.

But we beat Everton away 2nd game and were 9th after a few more! I'll be happy enough if we manage that again this season.

You're still among the relegation favourites, so don't get too cocky, the cat always gets the canary...<laugh>
