whey not give Kane a chance to show what he can do,even Greaves had to start somewhere, who knows,he might be another,AVB think's he can do the job.

True, but he didn't play in the same throw away era that we are in now. Think of Ferguson and his early times at United, he would have been given the boot way before he turned it around and this applies to players too.

so you think it's too much to expect signings to be made earlier on in the window? that's what my point is, so I'm guessing that's what you disagree with?

then we'll have to agree to disagree to disagree Spurf.

loads of other clubs have identified their targets and made their moves. - and that even includes us, with Gylfie and Verts.

there have also been various strikers that have moved for roughly 15mill or less (euro's or pounds. cant remember, but i posted names the other day) already in this window, some of which might well have worked for us. That's the going rate for a pretty good striker. If we aren't going to pay that, then that's fine. but no one, including Levy, can expect us to continue our current form of battling for 4th place.

I'm happy for Kane to get his chance. I wish him well, and I really do hope he is the next Greaves.

I'd just rather his chance be a result of thoughtful and deliberate action, rather than it being forced to due to lack of players.

If Kane scores a blinder tomorrow I'll gladly shut up with my doubts.

We all know that we will screw up ... we always do mate...

Keith Burkinshaw builds a great team ... wins 2 FA Cups, a UEFA cup, gets us into Europe regularly and we drive him away by turning the club into a plc.

We have an amazing season under David Pleat and we end that season selling Richard Gough , Clive Allen (who had just beaten Jimmy Greaves Goalscoring record for a single season)and sacked our manager.

We win the FA Cup in 1991 and are forced to sell Gazza to stop us going Bankrupt.

Our then Chairman and El Tel air their dirty laundry in the high court no less.

We employ a legend in Ossie and let him play a system that involved a keeper, 3 midfielders and 7 strikers.

    We buy Jason Cundy

We see the arse have employed an unknown coach called wenger with great success so follow suit with Mr C Gross

When that fails we employ an ex gooner legend who managed to win us a trophy in the most boring final in history.

Our captain is allowed to run down his contract and then goes and joins the goons...but we get revenge cos we steal the mighty Rolan Rickets from them.

We get food poisoning on the last day of the season spoiling our chance of a top 4 finish.

We sack our most successful premier league manager and bring in a bloke who takes us to our worst league start EVER.

We spend £16.5m on ex goon Bentley.

Our manager is serenaded by England, we throw away a 13 point lead for 3rd place which cost us CL football, the manager got dumped by england and we sack him (understandably ) and appoint a man who messed up at chelsea big time (who went on to win the FA cup and CL with a bloke who was recently sacked by WBA).

All this means I've earnt the right to be a miserable ****... and miserable I will be...I wear my frown as a badge of honour...

I believe firmly that we will screw up. Doubting for a moment that we would screw up was my mistake last year. So this year's going to be better!

  15. All of the arsehole presenters on talk5HITE have written off our chances of a top 5 finish this season, with Adrian Durham (who I thought was a Spurs fan?) predicting that we'll have a disaster and finish mid-table. Darren Gough (that well-known football pundit) has tipped 'Pool to finish 4th.

If anything the new manager will be more a culture shock at liverpool than at Spurs. Rodgers is actually gonna try and get them to play nice stuff. I can see Allen being the only 1 that fits

Where do I begin? We don't have one striker who's a proven line leader. we'll probably lose tomorrow and our fans are nowhere near the best on the planet, I doubt if we come in the top 100.

I've no time for talksport, but we won't get top 5 with this squad, we'd do well to get 6th.

Naturally I'm hoping for two strikers and a keeper to up my prediction.

Just to say one thing for sure Kane is no Greaves. At Kane's age, Greaves was already one of the best forwards in the world, he was an absolute phenomenon. Kane's style is nothing like Jimmy's and so there's no comparison in reality.

Without wishing to be cruel Kane reminds me of Teddy without the heading ability and football genius that Sheringham possessed.

I don't think Kane will make it at Prem level, hope I'm wrong of course.

I'd love to see Coulibaly given a go from the subs bench, but probably completely wrong on that one
