Fergie and Wenger sat down and talked about it, the 2 wisest managers in the league would of gone over every detail, every reaction and every outcome.

Wenger didnt make this decision lightly ( or what park he had in it anyway ) and will of looked at your players and thought, you know what, we actually have a decent side.

You do have a decent side, the players you have bought are for once, the right players, bought at the right time. So you lose RVP and it will have an impact but the reality is Arsenal have not been this prepared for a PL season in years.

I have you down as finishing 3rd behind United and City and I believe thats where you will finish <ok>

It probably would have been worse if he'd hung on for a season. The attention surrounding his future would have overshadowed the whole team.

The fee is a good one for a player with one year left.

Now you mention it, I would take Berbatov over Chamakh, Bendtner and Park at any time ;)

Nothing wrong with Berba, he'd be useful in our system. Gervinho and Walcott do all the running.

Very good point, in my opinion it is some short term pain for long term gain, every day one of the tabloids would have a story about who RVP was signing for. At least this way it is over, and it is not dragging on into the new season like last summer, now we can move on.

as an outsider looking in i`d say this is a great deal for u guys.....24mil for a player who`s got no sell on value smacks of a desperate buy by mr fergs.

lets hope the greedy dutchman breaks his leg in the opening game, now that would be karma on a major level <wink>

good luck or the season lads <ale>

I think there will be a lot of moaning and groaning about this, but I am still hoping that he passes the medical today.

I think moving RVP out creates chances for other players. As most of you know I don't like getting down on players, but I dont like building them up too much either. The story is that Wenger never even tried offerring RvP a new contract after he signed Cazorla/Podolski and Giroud. Wenger is going to stay classy, but I think he just didn't feel that RvP would fit into that system. To be perfectly honest, Bendtner fits in better now.

There is a big clean out going on at Arsenal, and I have to say, I am OK with it. For all of you that go on about mental attitude and all that, I think that is part of it, but it is also about finding the right mix of players that can complement each other. It is scary to rip up the team and start again, but when I look at the squad, I have to say that I think we are a lot more dangerous than we were last season.

For all of you complaining about Arsenal not winning, why do you think change is such a bad thing? Surely in order to create a different result you have to do something different? Well this is different, so stop complaining!

Stop being so negative, if you think RVP can go through the season uninjured, then you should have no problem believing Diaby can as well!

The funny thing about this is that Liverpool and Chelsea fans are more pissed off about this than us haha

A United fan telling us not to blame their new player.... You're really not qualified to tell Arsenal fans who to blame at our club.

"It is understood Arsenal were willing to make Van Persie their highest paid player ever, but never actually offered him a new contract."
