And for those of you who can't be bothered to click on a link (There is a lot of us like that...) here is the match summary for the reserves 3-1 win over Crusaders. (With a bit more information on the game added in by me!) - So, that is the pre-season campaign for the reserves/Under 21's over. An excellent pre-season for the lads with 6 wins out of 6 and lots of goals scored. Our tour of Ireland produced a 100% record and the reserves did go to Chester and beat their first team 3-2. As Redbrynner has already pointed out, Suso has had an excellet pre-season with 5 goals and has scored in the reserves last 4 pre-season games against Crusaders, Bray, Rochdale & Huddersfield. Excellent work from him. And a special mention to Michael N'Goo who I think is the top scorer for the reserves pre-season campaign with 7 goals!
Didnt realise Suso/Morgan was playing tonight or may have tried to get a ticket to see them in person. Future looks bright for the youth at the moment, lets hope it remains that way.
Whole team seems to be very effective going forward...Tour was against two senior sides and they dominated both games, so good experience. Suso sems to be the playmaker and players like Ibe raly compliment him.
Really hope that our positive players coming through the youth ranks do get a chance as they develop. It would be a terrible shame to do a chelseas and have a wealth of good youth players and never use any of them...But there is plenty of time for that..
The Under 18's side kicked off their season today away at Wolves and here is the match report from the game. And here is the new Under 18's manager, Steve Cooper, on the match. - At least we have one positive from today! Decent point gained after being 2-0 & 3-1 down. Good fighting spirit shown by the players and it's a decent platform to build on for the Under 18's.
reserves are playing live on LFC TV started at 14.00. i will be going home for the 2nd half, if anyone can giveupdates on the first half would be ace..... They always give a good performance so should be good for putting some smiles back on faces.
isn't it amazing how just like last year out u18 score a heap in preseason then the very first match scrape a draw after just letting a shed load in? why is that?
in the U18s, i could name a shed load of attacking talent....Sinclair, Dunn, hodzic, Lussey, Nacho, danny smith, pelosi...I would not find it easy to name all of our qulaity defenders or goalkeepers.....think we are lacking abit there.... On a side note, everyone could not understand why Suso had not been included in Europa league squad and such earlier in the season......and ive just worked it out.....the guy is banned for four games....Got himself sent off against United twice last season..(legend in my eyes.) Hope Dani does well today looking forward to the 2nd half.
well i can't see a domestic reserve suspension impacting a europa slot personally.... but hey.... I'm not going to see any of it but we must admit that something needs to give here sooner rather than later. we've just about reached breaking point with the amount of guys who "have potential" and i'm sick of seeing under performing mega bucks players losing badly while we pile on more underage games to try and get guys some pitch time.
Yeh, thinking about it I might be clutching at straws.....All of last season, there was just no thrill seeing names like Downing on the team sheet.....I prefer watching the reserves/u21s play every time. 1-1 at the moment. Ngoo scored early on, Liverpool are dominating but not converting all their chances...Looking okay though.
sterling and suso for me need badly to get out of reserve action and if that means we hock cole and downing so be it. I just want to see them pushed on ad am expectantly waiting to see this new boy assaidi cos if you buy a winger you're saying he's better than these two or at worst indicating cole can go... i'd release on a free right now if some club will take his wages on. I like n'goo a lot as well, more than morgan maybe. all in all i think If we could get wisdom sterling and suso through to the firsts from this crop and follow up with n'goo and ibe/pelosi/teixtira and such next year its be a real progression. if we have a reserve team with pacheco, suso and sterling there enxt year all we will do is sell more guys and still be wondering.
Completely agree..Id get rid of Cole and Downing immediately by whatever means and blood youngsters.. Borini, Suarez and Carroll as our front 3 and have Sterling, Suso, asididi, pacheco, Ibe to come in where needed...Gerrard can also play part of the front 3 which creates space for Shelvey in midfield..... Truth is though, we wil probably spend mor emoney bringing in players ahead of the youth, we always do.
seems so. we need the b team system in england i think. I'm amazed we can't loan players out as shelvey to blackpool really worked didn't it? If we got sterling into the firsts and suso out to someone like norwich etc on a deal that gaurenteed mniutes in the prem then i'm sure by next august we'd bel looking at two 10mil players. god... if you look at anyone arsenal buys from even league 1 and they are 10-15mil.. those boys are worth it but not getting through yet.
If they are not going to play iwould loan out Sterling, Suso, pacheco, Wisdom, Flanno........All are too good for the reserves and will get nothing out of playing for them....Pacheco already looks worse than he did a few years ago...the boy needs a challenge.....the others will start to lose hope if things are not done properly... Think brendan needs to sort it out...He wanted total control, but it is already showing that certain areas of the squad are missing out.....he needs to sort it!
The Under 21's/Reserves kicked off their season at home to Wolves and here is the match report from the game. - A solid enough start for the Under 21 side. Caught bits & pieces of the game and as the report says, Pacheco had good chances to get on the scoresheet. Seem to recall him being played in from the right in the first half and could and maybe should have finished it. Chipped it just past the post. We've got Palace away in the next game who have an excellent youth system so another good test awaits for the Under 21's. Need an improvement to get the three points in that game.
Here is the match report from the Under 18's second game of the season against Crystal Palace. That's another point for the Under 18's but it'll feel like a defeat. The attacking aspect is clearly good at the moment with 6 goals in 2 games (Worth noting the excellent form of Jerome Sinclair) but the defensive side isn't as good. Going 3-0 up should mean that we take control of the game and of the ball and stop Palace from having a chance to get back into the game. That didn't happen and we blew a 3 goal lead. That is disappointing for the Under 18's but we shoud learn from it. Maybe i'm just being a bit too harsh though! We were down to 10 men for the last part of the game...
