Assuming Anita signs today or tomorrow, who else can you see coming through the door in the last two weeks of the season?
    Personally I reckon....

    Debuchy (next)
Douglas (at the last minute due to his residency issue but not leaving Holland until 1st Sept)
    A striker on loan
    A Utility/Development player

I've heard there's been a hiccup in the Messi/Iniesta deal, it seems Barca wanted the mackemslayer as part of the deal.

Well then its best to wash our hands of the whole thing and forget it...

You could be right ACS, Guidetti or Carroll as the loan signing? Personally, I think we're going to play the waiting game with any striker as there's still no assurances that Senegal are going to be away in January anyway...I'd personally have my money on Ivory Coast to beat them as Senegal's defense and midfield looked shocking at the ACoN. In which case, we've got our own youngsters who need the game time!

Agree with you thats what we need. Whether we get Debuchy and or Douglas or not is another matter. We may get surprised with a good alternative but agree a FB and CB are needed. Prefer a Striker signed full time rather than on loan although if a deal agreed for a signing if the loan goes well like Ben Arfa i would be ok with that. Suspect a younger signing there tho rather than a big name. Would be no surprise if we even wait till jan for a striker, if even then depending on prices and availability in jan. One or two more development players still likely too i suspect with so many gone at the end of last season especially if some go out on loan anyway.

I sense your bubble may soon burst if the wumming negativity persists....
having a difference of opinion is good... persistent and intentional doom and gloom to provoke a reaction is not.

Now we have Anita, I would take Debuchy and leave it at that, with anything more signings simply a sexy dessert!

I think we have enough youth products to cover if we don't sign a striker, to be honest, so that doesn't worry me at all at the moment

I'm really hoping for a complete surprise signing, like when we signed Cisse out of nowhere.

Doubt it will happen though. I'll probably just watch transfer deadline day getting angry with the same Harry Redknapp interviews and references (despite him being unemployed at the moment) and we won't sign anyone else...

    So that's my predictions:
    1. A surprise
    2. No one?

I'd be surprised if we bought no one! <laugh>

Hope we get a couple in, but I'm happy we've kept all our lads to be honest... Except Guthrie obviously, but you can't have your lobster and eat it (especially if all your guests are just going to throw it at each other)...

A strong CB who will push Taylor + Colo is my main choice. Would be very happy with that and no other comings (or goings).

An extra striker to provide cover would be second.

Debuchy would be a great bonus.

To be honest, I'd be happy as we are, so long as nobody leaves and both Taylor + Colo both stay injury / suspension free.

personally don't like loan signings and from what i gather its not Newcastles policy either. yes they bid for AC however i recon that was just to unsettle him.

so i think i deadline bid of 15m for carroll which will be accepted will be the last bit of business. that CB we have been asking for, for the best part of 2 seasons wont be signed!

however to be fair as long as we don't loose anyone now id be happy and see what January brings got plenty of youth players ready to step up if needed

oh and 100th post! yey for me!:emoticon-0169-dance

Douglas to come in on the last day and i think that will be that, as Pard's says he thinks we need one more and CB is the position that needs cover. Striker can wait till we know if Senegal make ACoN and if they do we should go for Gudietti.
