They spoke with him. He reckons the fee is agreed in the region of 32-38mill euros and that Real Madrid aren't expecting him tomorrow because we're holding it up by looking for a replacement. When we hear some news that Spurs sources are confirming the same I'll believe it but Ballague and La Marca aren't that reliable so I wouldn't believe a word of it.
Yeah the only Spurs sources are the dumb ITKs on twitter I started reading stuff from 'theSpursInsider' - claimed we've done a deal for Leandro, Moutinho, Lloris and Butland
Just to further confuse things re. price - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/spurs-luka-modric-is-expected-at-real-1262824
You have to laugh at the pathetic guesses on the price, the Guardian say this http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/15/tottenham-luka-modric-real-madrid?newsfeed=true The Fail say this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...eal-deal-Spurs-weekend.html?ito=feeds-newsxml ... turned down 38!! at Levy ... I'd love it to be true, imagine the scenes and language in the Bernabeu offices! Telegraph just joining dots now http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Real-Madrid-move-from-Tottenham-Hotspur.html to all of them, they don't know so why bother.
You do sense something is about to happen as there is no way Levy could allow AVB to start the season with kane & defoe as our strikers, and Modric demanding a move away, he simply has to sort this out and get AVB his targets as I'll assume when AVB became our manager they identified realistic targets and the sale of Modric has been allowed to hold things up.
I think it's now almost inevitable that we'll start at Toon with JD as the sole striker. We have effectively one day left, the team travels up to Toon tomorrow I assume, anyone not travelling surely can't be parachuted in to effectively start for us the next day. I was looking forward to watching this game down the pub, but no way am I going up there to be humiliated by various Chelsea, West Ham and Arsenal fans as we send out a ridiculously unbalanced team and get turned over. I'll stay at home and watch it online, still supporting Spurs of course, but absolutely furious at our owners.
Cheers All Stars - I am furious that a club like ours has the worst strike force amongst all the top 6 'rivals'. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it'll all gel up at SJP, maybe there will be jam tomorow.
9 goals, 12 assists in Serie A Whilst on paper that doesn't look good, he was Juve's second-highest scorer. However, if he can hold up the ball and play in Bale, VDV et al, he could certainly fill the void left by a demand City pay £50k a week to charity... I can't help but notice that nothing was reported at 10pm. Does that say SSN is full of the brown stuff, and I'm not talking about Bovril?
I can't believe the Fail have been the most optimistic for Spurs about the fee. Have they forgotten they hate us?
Just saw a headline on Caughtoffside- West Ham in talks to sign THudd for 5mil. Strong smell of cow stuff on that.
If West Ham can find £10m, then Hudd is a goer I reckon. IF Hudd can't regain the fitness he used to have, then £5m is a possibility. Livermore Sandro Parker are all in front of Hudd, and TBH if AVB wants high tempo pressing athletic players then JJ is in front of him as well.
Didn't see it mate. I think YV said it was guillem ballbag and someone else chatting about it and saying that he wont be going until we have a replacement, or something like that. stuff we already knew/had worked out, basically.
They're nothing alike, Huddlestone's 10 times the passer of any of them and if we don't have someone like him playing alongside one of Livermore/Parker/Sandro we'll struggle to create like we did a lot last season when we played two of them. The only time it worked was against Swansea who played very open attacking football anyway. If we sell Huddlestone he'll just be another player that we need to replace.
HI YV. Doesn't matter whether they're alike or not, and I didn't say they were incidentally. I said they're all in front of Hudd, which I stand by, and we don't need to replace Hudd at all, we simply play a different way. I don't want Hudd to leave but at £10m I'd do the biz, and if he can't get properly match fit, then £5m seems a decent offer. I don't expect Hudd to start up at Toon, and after that, it depends who we get in. This is the front 6 I want two from Sandro Jake Scott three from VDV Bale Lennon Siggy One from Ade/another striker subs JD Hudd JJ etc IF we get another mid in as is likely they go into the 'first team' candidates above and push Hudd further down the subs bench
Two holding midfielders simply doesn't work for us, GHoddle. Redknapp persisted with it during our entire slump and as soon as he stopped using it we returned to form. If we don't select at least one creative midfielder in a deeper role, than our system becomes totally ineffective.
Saha's just signed for Sunderland and Soldado has claimed that we've had a bid for him turned down by Valencia.
