Just seen this - from some random lad on Twitter:

"@iTsMarvel_Twizz: Jeeeeez, My Cousin Just Got Signed To Southampton From Blackpool For £6 Million, So Happy For Him."

He plays for Corby Town himself. That'd be done a bit quick right?! I'm always cynical though.

Maybe, he just saw the reported bid and thought it was a done deal.... I still think he will be a Saints player, I don't care how we get him if it annoys Holloway the club deserves some sort of reward... :)

Also, on the subject of annoying people, couldn't help but notice the Gaston Ramirez rumour on the Daily Mail site, the comments from other teams is brilliant. This is when I really want us to sign a player of his class just to stick it down these so called 'bigger clubs' throats, despite the chances of signing him being quiet slim.

That was my immediate thought.

Well my recent experience shows that family members are a very good source indeed for transfer news. My girlfriend's family are friends with Joe Allen's and she told me a week before it was announced that he was going to Liverpool for £15m. I told her that they had probably just read it in the papers but lo and behold it happened exactly as she said.

Course this 'cousin' could be bullshitting but it means I'm a little less sceptical about the deal now.

Does also suggest the papers are usually a day or two behind the story, which makes sense I guess.

If we do get him Cortese should ring Holloway and proclaim:

"Yes we are having the last laugh Mr Holloway,... in the Premier League.... and with your players."

going back to a point made about when we signed Fox, i remember seeing Jay-Rod with a matchball after he scored his hat-trick for burnley that was signed by danny fox saying, "good luck and best wishes, foxy". pretty much suggested that he knew he was joining us immediately after the game

No, the message was written as fox saying good bye, we had bid for him about an hour before the game, i think it suggests we probably made his agent aware of the sort of wage he'd be offered if he joined. quite a regular occurance in modern football

I can't see us signing both, unless players like Puncheon/De Ridder are leaving...

Was at the Udinese game on Saturday, and based on Punch's performance then I can only hope that its him thats leaving. He was utter bobbins, it very much struck me thatb buying someone as able as Clyne was a complete waste of cash with someone who was so incapable of basic inter play playing in front of him. Is Phiilips the answer............who knows, but seems a lot more capable than Punch.

That was taken two days before Fox signed with us. If you could tell that's Fox's signature you've got better eyesight than me!

Probably true, but without the benefit of hindsight lots of people thought that it meant Rodriguez was leaving.

To be fair, Puncheon has had a good preseason - he's a good player and he should be staying.

I thought and still think the "Bye bye Jay Rod" is a joke. "Nice hattrick, too good for little old Burnley now, off you trot!" kind of thing.
