    Good Morning All,
Warnock has come out and said he does not think we are good enough for automatic promotion. He said: "If I put my hand on my heart, I don't think we're automatic promotion material".

"That's not me being defeatist, I'm just being realistic about the squad we've got. I'm telling you what I see".

"As far as the play-offs go, I'm optimistic that we'll have as good a chance as most clubs of getting in there".

    Is that a fair assessment?

Ken Bates was spotted going into Elland Road last night. Could he be there to sign the club away?

    On this day in History

    2007
Leeds will travel to Premier League side Portsmouth in the Second Round of the Carling Cup after the draw is made.

    2008
Leeds lose their first home game of the season when they are beaten 2-0 by Oldham Athletic at Elland Road.

    2011
Leeds finally get off the mark at the third attempt in the championship with a 4-1 win over Hull City at Elland Road. Ross McCormack, Tom Lees, Robert Snodgrass and Ramon Nunez are all on target for Leeds.Chairman Ken Bates criticises the fans who were demonstrating before the game with Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Bates described the fans as mostly kids and they don`t have a clue what they are shouting about.Speaking on Yorkshire Radio , Bates said, 'I felt sorry for them. When you look at the evidence afterwards because we have it all on CCTV footage and various photographs, most of them are kids and they don`t know what they are shouting about.'The few people I spoke to, hadn`t got a coherent complaint, there only complaint was we haven`t bought any players and that`s the managers decision and it`s down to him.

I think he maybe doing himself down. I still fancy us for auto, as I think he's solved our basic problem; a weak core. In Austin & Brown plus at least one of our new entrants, he has two good solid holding midfield players. We need to hang onto McCormack (who scored for Scotland last night) & bring in one more striker.

Saturday will give us any idea of the sort of season we'll have. But I for one think we'll give sides a fair run for their money.

    Morning by the way.

Morning Elland. Probabably is a fair assessment. However at this moment in time, it could be his way of forcing the hands of his employers, whoever they are, to free up more cash for transfers. Not sure if Bates going into Elland road means anything. Can't see why any deal would have to be signed there. Surely that could be done even in Monaco. Of course, like everyone else, hope there is something to it

Morning Boggers, Gradel scored the eauilizer for the Ivory Coast against Russia last night too. If you look at the midfield that got us up to the promised land in 89/90, we had Speed, Strachen, Batty, V Jones, Kamara and think it may have been Vince Hilaire. You would want wanna mess with any of those players. We also had the likes of Noel Blake in our defence. Thats a really phsical side. I think we need one or two more hard men...

Morning all - I think NW is being optimistic at the moment, I would be over the moon if this squad could reach the play offs.

Just seems a shame that all pre-season we have been debating if the squad was good enough or not and we have all pretty much agreed that the solid foundations are there, we should be harder to beat but we need the 1 or 2 or even 3 marquee signings, the icing on the cake as Warnock puts it. I think 3 because when NW made that comment we still had Snoddy.

Honestly, should we have all not known better than to get our hopes up, we sign the solid players and when it comes to the marquee signings once again our wheels come off. Not only that we still keep getting teased with a carrot that a T/O is still on. I believe 100% that Bates is going to see how the first few games go before deciding if he should accept the offer on the table or not. Losing the first 2-3 games could be a blessing in disguise, it pains me to say it but if we managed to somehow manage 9 out of 9 points for our first three games then sit tight as Bates will be here for the season.

Morning all. Bates usually turns up a few days before the 1st match, so maybe nothing but we live in hope.

I also think NW is being realistic and the 2 marquee signings he's not been able to get because of stalled T/O talks, are the bits that he's missing for auto. However i feel play-offs are realistic, especially if Ross is still on the books, Luciano gets himself fit and in amongst it. We've got goals from midfield, and a solid spine and a much better defence. The difference could be Austin who could turn out to be the signing of the season (Hope) and spit the dog. Duif could be a cracker if he gets his head down, works for the team and creates chances and scores a few himself. We'll know what we're looking like in a couple of games time, but this league is going to be tough this season and a good start is needed.

The trees have signed Cox, a player I was hoping we could get, and maybe he was on Warnocks radar. Cox scores for fun in this league and could have been the icing on our cake.

    Morning all <ok>

Warnock was always going to underplay our chances, although he is right in respects to the team needing the finishing touches to it and by saying what he has I think its a message to Bates piss or get off the pot because without backing this team isnt going up.

I love the way he doesn't give a toss about what Bates must think about his comments. Grayson never stood up to the old twat, and that was his downfall. I think Bates is looking for a lifeboat, because he knows the fans know he won't invest in the team. Another season like last and he'll be running for cover. Warnock will tell it like it is and Bates won't like it. He copmment about the low point was promising to bring in 4 players before he went on holiday, only to see him lose out on Ward because he wasn't given funds. Time and time again his made veiled critisism about Bates and bates has had to keep quiet

Warnock does n half piss me off. I can't understand why fans get so giddy with this sort of comment, he just angers me

Although I do think he is the sort of person that annoys me regardless of what he does or says, you get people like that sometimes

Actually, I find his comments honest and sometimes witty. A very pleasant change from some of the drivel other managers serve up, including some of our former ones Grayson and O'Leary

Probably something to do with confidence of knowing he is one of the best and has the track record to prove it

If anything I think Colin is overstating our chances! <laugh>

Think we'd have to have pretty much the best possible season from this team to make the play-offs. Do agree with Josh to an extent, Warnock is very good at playing the press and as far as I can see that's actually what's making many of our fans so confident. Weird.

Worth noting Rosco's great goal for Scotland last night after finally being brought back into the international fold after his unexplainable exile. <ok>
