In an ideal world, I completely agree with you. It would have been great to have stuck two fingers up to player power-personally I think that'd be worth the transfer fee. The trouble is, the board doesn't and Wenger knew that.
I think the saddest thing about this transfer is there is now officially no player on Arsenal that has won a trophy in our colors. Truly now, there is no Arsenal player left that knows what it means to lift a trophy with the club.
Holy ****, never even thought of that. Goes to show the amazing amount of turnover in players since 05.
On the bright side, we are in much better shape than we were a year ago, our squad was looking alarmingly thin at the start of last season. As long as we manufacture chances at a high rate, I'm sure Poldi and Giroud will finish most of them. Even without RVP we still have a stronger squad. Hopefully we'll see at least a couple of new faces too.
Now I agree That both Nasri and RVP are indeed money grabbing ****s the issue of players not re-signing is of our own making. By consistantly selling our players the clubs profile/status has gone down and now Top players feel they have to move in order to win things. Also I cant see why you think United cant win the league. They have done with FAR worse squads. Nani-----------Kagawa----------Giggs ------Rooney----------VanPersie------ Is a pretty formidable attacking line up.
Is Giggs gonna keep going at the same level? He'll be 39 in November. With those strikers they'll certainly pose every defense some problems. This move is bad though because it reinforces the idea that there are only two big clubs left in England. It's like we're strenghening United so they can go fight it out with City.
Definetly wont be bringing in a striker. Im Ok with that but would love another TOP quality CM/DM. If the board give a **** they should appease the fans and bring in a big name. With Modric Going to Madrid surely Kaka would be available? Then there's Nuri Sahin of course.. If we sign Nuri Sahin/MVila or Kaka I will be happy.(well still pissed about the fact we sold to UNITED) but..happy with the squad.
I read in an earlier post that no overseas club had come in for RvP, is that true? I think you might have got less cash for him if he went overseas but he would not have gone to a rival! I hope the Gooners win something this year and manure end up with nothing!
You guys can't really blame Wenger imo, VP had a year left on his contract which left the club and Wenger at a crossroads; let him go to United on a free or sell him for £24m now?! Maybe the other clubs hadn't upped their offers from before. £24m is a cracking price, reinvest in it and you'll be sound.
