I don't really like lamb but I'm fond of bumming sheep and I'm not even Welsh.

Me, Zingy and Billy go into the fields on a regular basis equipped with velco gloves.

    Good times <ok>

For that amount of money United will be lucky to get 2 maybe 3 years out of Robin Van Persie. It seems a lot of money for such a short period of time. As an earlier poster said, it strengthens a side we're not competing with..yet. It weakens one that we are competing with.

I didn't understand why we'd spend so much money on a 29 year old... But the way I now see it...
We CAN'T allow City to win back-to-back (-to-back?) titles... Whatever the cost (within reason).. If they do, it's the beginning of dominance..

We have to spend properly now in order to keep ourselves from dropping under their shadow long term.. It'll cost us much more than £20 odd million if that happens.
    On the field and off.

If Van Persie wins us the league for just this season, and does nothing else... He'll atleast be stopping City moving in towards us.

View on Arsenal - Got as good a deal as they could have got, if only it wasn't United he was leaving for..

View on United and Van Persie - Both these parties have shown no class, not only RvP to sign for such a big rival, but United to sign another guy who would have been a legend in the eyes of the rival club if he didn't make the move. United signed Berbatov at the age of 29ish (Correct me if I'm wrong) and got one good season out of him, he was far less injury prone too.

I honestly hope Arsenal come above United and Chelsea this season, I rate them highly, great football, yes they haven't won a trophy but I believe the sustainable future of the club and the way they bring players through the ranks is definitely admirable.

As for Liverpool, if Arsenal don't re-invest the money or fail to make up the goals RvP would have scored, we could be in with a better chance of a CL spot.

I'm sure in like jan that a commentator said that without rvp's goals and the points it brought, arsenal would have been in the bottom 3. Mental! Your chances of finishing fourth have just increased substantially.

BUT Van Persie alone will not win you the league. For the record though, I reckon Kagawa is going to be signing of the season - fair do's to you lot.

Who's there to play in CM? Giggs, Scholes, Carrick, Anderson? Giggs and Scholes are quality, but there only getting older and older. Carrick is **** - and a twat (immature i know, but really dislike him since hearing about his views on being in the England squad), Anderson (£24million and people rip us for Henderson at £16million!) not a bad player, but doesn't look like he's going to be dominating any midfields in the next couple of years. Losing Fletcher sucks for you guys.

I reckon £24million on someone like Martinez, Mvilla, De Rossi or someone else of that ilk would have been spending properly. You already have hernandez, Rooney, Wellbeck (England's next great striker, lol) and Berbatov, surely thats enough, when the heart of your midfield is so glaringly weak?

I'll just post what I posted earlier...

We never had a problem creating chances with the ball in our possesion, it was being overrun off the ball.
To quote Swarbs: "Surely if Rooney and RVP are overmarked you are implying opposition midfielders will be dropping deep on them? Which will just give our midfield even more space to work with."

Teams wont have a go at us (push up) as much when they look at Van Persie and Rooney up front...
Indirectly this decreases the dependence on the midfield... The likes of Wigan and Everton won't be as attacking for sure. Our counter-attack is even stronger. Van Persie is a match winner.. And you can never have too many of those...

With Kagawa signed too, I'd still love another centre mid.. But he doesn't need to be a £25 million one anymore, and obviously wont be.

I'd love for Fergie to now go and spend £14,£15 million on Sahin... I would have prefered even more for him to have spent a bit more on Martinez or Fellaini...

But we now have a front line that teams will look at and they'll be scared to commit men forward.
If not Sahin then a cheap(ish) 30(ish) year old with experience would be perfect for our midfield... Give Powell and Cleverley time to progress. Someone like Keita from Barca possibly...

"No, they have, Arsenal fans, some Liverpool fans and others are calling him **** purely because hes signed for United."

Does beg the question why you're not addressing them then, rather than spending time on a thread where, up until then, nobody had been calling him shight.

I sincerely hope that you meant to write Welbeck instead of Welblack... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but if you meant that then get the **** off the forums, we don't need that here.

I'm pissed... The biggest reason I'm pissed, is that this signing maintains the illusion that Man U are still a good team. They are threadbare, old and moth eaten, but this will maintain the illusion that they are still a force to be reckoned with. Very shrewd by Fergie, this is now another season where all the small teams with **** managers turn up to loose against the ****e. Week one, Everton are going to turn up to get bummed and limp home with a smile and a bleeding arsehole. Arsenal will bend over, and do you know why? Because they have a really **** manager<ok>. I mean who sells their biggest player to the competition? I've not seen managerial incompetence like this since Leeds sold Cantona to the scum for £2.50, and caused the domination of the last 20 years.

I know we will still tear them a new one, but how many more teams will just bend over and take it? How many defences and goalkeepers will think they have a "get out of gaol" free card because they let RVP and spud score against them.

If RVP stays fit, and if Citeh struggle to retain their title, this could be no. 20 for the mancs, if everyone just gives up as the walk on the pitch.

    I am so pissed..

What is all this ****ing over Kagawa? He may come good, but on the other side, he may pull out of more 50/50s than Raul Mereiles. Sorry the premier league is daunting for overseas players, unlike most leagues you are not given time on the ball. Dawdling and pussy footing in posession is known as footballing suicide. Look at the amount of British players that have done it and got killed, never mind overseas players?. The British ones that did it are Carrick, Adam, Huddlestone, Spearing. These are just examples.

Duh, guess it needs a re-incarnation of Alan Turing to find a way of responding just to the threads where they are/were saying Van Persie is shight then?
