To you folks who wear red and white on a traditional Saterday afternoon, who support your team, although you may not have much money, due to the ecconomical downturn, unemployed, or just plainly down on your luck. I have a bit of a problem, the folks who get paid, and very well I might add. To wear that shirt, as part of the proffesion they have been lucky enough to have chosen. Should be aware of what Sunderland is all about. My grandfather had one eye from the age of three , and could not fight during world war one or world war two, instead he went to europe and burried every countrys dead, English,German,French etc. He helped evacuate a hell of a lot of people from Dunkerk, WHY,,,,,,, because he had THE MINERALS The miners from Vein Tempest, Silksworth, Ryhope, Dawdon, and of course beneath the SOL , Monkwiermouth to name but a few,,,,,,,,,there were many more. they didnt want to be something like fourteen miles under the north sea, but to feed families, and support their team on Saterdays, they did, because they had THE MINERALS. Our shipbuilders, queing up for a days work, never knowing if they would get a start for a days work, but would queue up for hours before people were picked for a days work, and would work their bollocks off for coppers, to keep their kids and famillies alive, WHY because they had THE MINERALS. Our regeon has provided, the Army, Navy,Air force with its finest, and this includes the folk of Newcastle, before any dip**** has a go, Non finer than the Durham light infantry, LEGENDS. Those folk fought all over the world to keep us as a free nation, and also to keep other nations free, a lot of those folks never came back, and right now a similar thing is happening on many fronts, why did those lads and lasses do this, and still do..... because they had and to this day have THE MINERALS. My point . if come Saterday, you wear the shirt of red and white, wear it with pride, and IF you wear the shirt of red and white, and get paid for it, could you please also, wear it with pride, and like our forfathers show us YOUR MINERALS, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
