    A bit of late news from NUFC.com

    Newcastle's Shane Ferguson netted his first senior goal for Northern Ireland after seven minutes of their friendly against Finland at Windsor Park, slamming an 18 yard effort home to put his side ahead. After 60 minutes, the latest score is 2-2 and Fergie remains on the field.

    It's his fourth full cap and the first time that Northern Ireland have scored while he's been involved, following previous 0-3 losses to Italy and Norway and a 0-6 howking by the Dutch.

    In the opposition lineup is striker Njazi Kuqi, the younger brother of former Magpie Shefki Kuqi, who is set to face Newcastle for Atromitos in the Europa League.

    Saw Fergie in his first start for the 1st XI away to Chelsea and he looked the business then, oozed class and confidence and was prepared to take anybody on.

    A bit surprised we haven't seen more of him but the powers that be must be nursing him through to bring him on gradually.

    He could do a good job in midfield on Saturday to help cover the pace of Lennon (or Bale if they keep switching flanks again), wit the ability to break out quickly on the attack when we get possession.

    Was over the moon for Fergie last night. I think he is looking like he is ready to start pushing his claims, and fortunately for him with the number of games we should be able to provide him with a platform to prove himself.
