I forgot about this thread, I just made one, please delete mine mods. If true that its £23.6 with £3.9 added on then it's poor business by Levy. The fee isn't bad but if we are now accepting less than £30million then why didn't we just sell him in June or July instead of waiting all this time and having no time to get in a replacement for the new season.
i refuse to believe that is true. What a ****ing waste of a preseason when we could have sold and bought in june like KH said. Was modders worth £13m+wages to us for last season? No. Perhaps we should have bent over for Chelsea instead. **** balls.
That doesn't sound such a bad deal, all things considered. Let's only hope that AVB/Levy have been lining up some new signings in anticipation of having the money to spend.
Not a bad deal? I thought we were asking for £40m? Surely we can't accept below £35m. We'll have other clubs all over us trying to buy the rest of the squad for peanuts if that figure is true.
i'm looking at this in 2 ways. firstly, i'm thinking 27mill? we paid 16 or so... therefore that's awful business for a player who's still only 26, had years left on his contract and has developed into a top midfielder. - we rejected 40mill last season, he's got even better over the last year..... so why have we accepted 27 mill??!! wecould have done that weeks ago and strengthened. The other, is that we don't know the full story yet. I can't believe that someone who is such a tough negotiator would accept 23-27 mill, when 40mill was rejected last season. that's beyond me. therefore, I'm wondering if there's a player coming in this way, permanently. We know how badly we need a striker and we also know how badly they want Modric. I think there's more to come. If there isn't, I'm going to be extremely disappointed in Levy.
Wouldnt be surprised if `Sky`s sources` is some second rate Chav, Goon or Mouser Journo thats just made these figures up, maybe in an attempt to belittle Levy etc. I cant believe Levy would sell him that low, unless there is a player coming to us also. Whats the bet that this deal ends up being `undisclosed`?
Say we accepted 27 million and took two of their players on loan with a view to buying, obviously it depends who these players are but that type of deal is possible.
Sky wouldn't report numbers if they didn't have some sort of idea. they would just say "he's off to spain tomorrow to finalise" and leave the figures out of it. I just hope there's someone coming this way as part of that.
Roo I know you love sky sports (mainly due to their hot totty) and refuse to believe they would lie but they once said we was trying to agree a deal for Carlos Puyol in the january transfer window and that was on there "news flash" so I don't take them serious!
i'm not saying they wouldn't lie mate, but they are far more credible. all i'm saying is why state figures to the decimal place, unless they are right? sky don't make a habit of things like that unless there is some truth. and yes, I do love the sky sports Totty.... don't think I'm alone there somehow!!
I'm not too bothered about the 'reported price', I just want Modric out and if it takes that to get the strikers we desperately need, then great. I doubt that Levy has been turned over, if we get say £23m plus £4m add-ons, that'll do me. Then spend the £12m this year or whatever's needed to get Ade in, as he's far more important to us than Modric.
If it's true and we've only got £27.5m tops after rejecting £30m a few weeks ago then I'm not sure I'll be able to put into words just how much we've bent over for Madrid. I bet a few weeks ago Levy was all arrogant just waiting for Madrid to come in all 'Oliver - I want some more' style with £40m - now he's had to bite the bullet and ****-ed us over for a season. Levy - I am disappoint. This is despite me thinking that £27.5m is actually decent money for a decent quality CAM - but when compared to the other transfer fees bandied around this Summer (I'm talking £15m+ for Fletcher, £27m for Agger, £25m for Allen etc etc) then you realise just how bad the deal is (note this assumes it's £27.5m only - no players) ENIC and Levy tried to play hard ball with Chelsea last season and it worked - not so much with Real. The only consolation will be if we use the money wisely - however given our position as a Europa League team, that crosses most of our targets out in my opinion. We'll probably try and get Owen and/or Heskey I really do hate football sometimes.
its very annoying that we've only got 27 mill, as a TRUE replacement for him is likely to cost us that much/almost that much in today's market, meaning no money left. Still, at least the prick is going. no club needs arseholes like that.
