Guess that Portsmouth are gone then http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11674/7990365/Chainrai-withdraws-Pompey-bid
As long as they are registered they can play the tea lady if they want. Half the team had a double maths lesson this morning and one had a driving test. Pompey Manager Appleton has also been quoted as saying that Pompey will go down again this season to league 2. That has to be the least of Pompeys worries at the moment. Correct. But too be fair it is headline news at the moment. With the Blue Square League now underway after 2 games played It would make a mess of League One IF Pompey do finally go. It wont happen i know,, But say a club like Man City could take on Pompey and use them for there players that dont get a game in Manchester. Surely league one would be better for them than the Barclays PL reserve league ? You cannot blame fans. We of all people should know that. But this mess should have been sorted weeks ago. Assem could always use the 50 AA car for that ?
Will Hoskins is out injured already and CMS has withdrawn from the Scotland squad due to injury. Brighton looked very poor last night.
It'd be too late to start restructuring the leagues now anyway, they'd just play League 1 with 23 teams and promote 5 teams from League 2 instead of the usual 4, making everything back to normal next season.
much as i hope they will, we all know that are not going into liquidation. the Murdoch League couldnt stand the bad PR
actualy it looks like some hot dog sellers, a bloke who owns a chippy, a former footballers charitable trust, oh and the council will end up owning it. i wonder if chaindai will emerge again as a baccker once the evil deed is done? http://m.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/15/portsmouth-supporters-trust-balram-chainrai?cat=football&type=article
I'd always be in favour of liquidation and a rebirth in these situations. What IS the chase what are people really racing for when you are a "Fan" of a team ? Looking at football as a whole there is only a tiny number of clubs capable of aiming for a trophy the general media care about . The rest of it is down to local pride , rivalry and community . So for those reasons a club being reborn in the non league wilderness wont or shouldnt make a difference should it ? Crowds should still be 20,000+ locals will still wear the shirts and the local media will still concentrate its usual 3 3 pages a day in the paper . Why is it this isnt the case ? its because the fans DEMAND success and are often equally at fault when a club fails financially .
Right, except it would more likely be reduced relegation rather than increased promotion. Otherwise the team finishing in 20th (4th bottom of the 23 man league) would start claiming that Pompey would have finished below them had they not been liquidated so by finishing 20th they'd have survived and were then being punished due to another club not meeting obligations.
Back when they had Vince Hilaire, Paul Mariner etc I remember they always used to piss me off late 80's we was forever getting beat grrr I used to think they was our bogey team, what was the name of their goalkeeper back then as I always thought he looked alot like Tony Norman? He made probably played as many games as well.
At the end of the day, everybody has run out of sympathy - or in some cases just ran out of flying ****s! - for Pompey now. The first time, oh dear very bad. But to do it again, not learning from their first mistakes and expecting the Club to be saved again and again. I don't even feel sorry for the fans either.
in the 60's/early 70's it was Ray Hiron who i remember more than any other. i seem to remember losing 1 - 0 to a Hiron header on more than one occasion. he was about 18' 10" tall and i dont remember him ringing a ****ing bell at all!!
