This is very positive if true. Alot of people keep saying we don't need Nuri Sahin but remember last season when we thought we had too many midfielders? Sahin can fill in for Gerrard so he can play only in important games. Even on loan I see Sahin as a 'marquee' type signing.
Sahin is too good not to play. I think if we get Sahin then Gerrard will certainly have a free role with him Suarez and Borini interchanging, or Carroll could be on with Suarez and Gerrard making runs off. Sahin, Allen, Lucas, our ball retention and ability to see the short passes, longer passes, and slipped passes to crack open a defense will be much much improved.
agreed, sahin would be a starter with Gerrard up in the front 3 with the inevitable game off here and there, That would give: ----------Lucas--------------- ------Sahin----Allen---------- Gerrard-----Suarez-----Borini With Ramirez and Tello possible too to swap with Gerrard/Borini on wings and Henderson/Shevley/Spearing as subs in midfield
Would be very excited if Sahin could come in but am I right in thinking this isn't for a view to make it permanent, it would just be for 1 season? Anti-climax if he is awesome for us.
You would have to think we have something set to be able to have first dibs at the end of the season or a set price in motion ( or here we developed your player now give us Alonso back? ) We shall see when everything comes out.
Lets look at it another way. Supposing it was all based on club performance. Supposing both Tello perform to the best of their capabilities and instrumental in getting Liverpool back into the champions league, then Liverpool will be on a different level to what they are now. Both are CL standard players, and would possibly just possibly only sign for us permanently if we were in the CL. Should we get back into the CL, then we will have both the impetus and the finances to saction both permanent signings. However if they fail to deliver, we can send them back. A loan move for both is a low risk opportunity.
I'll add to the that that IF they got us in the CL, but they had to go back, no worries we now have the CL, more money, to spend on players that we all crave and think we can get ( Silva's, Damiao's, etc)
I agree with that signing players as means to an end, having the same objective. Maybe we would have to send them back, but they served a purpose. The purpose being that we got back where we need to be. However if there was an option to buy we must grasp it with both hands and not make the mistake we made with Anelka in 2002.
I think anyone in their right mind would love to have Sahin and if he does sign, Shelvey should be loaned out to a prem team so he can continue his progression I don't think it will do Shelvey any good to be sitting on the bench at this stage of his career.
Lucas, Allen and Sahin - it does sound like a fantastic central midfield that is capable of winning the ball back, retaining the ball and creating chances.
Shelvey I would keep in the squad. However I've heard a rumour that Raheem Sterling may be on his way to Swansea on loan as a ''thank you'' for them selling us Joe Allen. Also Suso may be on his way to Wigan on loan because Roberto Martinez is Spanish and that would help him get to the required level.
Those loan deals make a lot of sense - I would be very happy with them. The rumours are getting stronger and stronger now re. Sahin and it looks like LFC have done enough to persuade him to join. (Not confirmed)
People saying that Sahin is a done deal ( hopefully true).Without doubt an excellent signing and may possibly mean Allen will have to start on the bench.IMO our most exciting signing of the window so far, Sahin is a very , very classy player Looks like Adam n Spearing will have to move if they wanna play, suspect neither will make the bench at weekend All of a sudden or midfield looks amazing strong again, like the days of Xabi,Stevie,Masch n Momo Fo me this would be the plan with the midfield Lucas sittin midfielder with Hendo as back up Sahin as the passin mid with Allen as back up Gerrard as the creative mid with Shelvey as back up Offload Adam n Spearing I d start with Sahin,Gerrard,Lucas in the PL and Shelvey,Hendo,Allen in the EL,CC up til Xmas barring injuries that way everyone should get plenty of minutes

If Sahin signs , we wont sign any more CMs.I can still see us signing 2 more players in the front 3, so I think Stevies long term will play in the number 10 position, his best position.Sahin plays a lot closer to his own goal than people think, he isnt really a number 10 player although he could play there.So it will be 1 form 2 from Sahin/Allen IMO and Sahin is proven and top drawer, Allen is work in progress Can see Dempsey and maybe one of Tello,Walcott,Johnson or Gaitan coming in yet pre September. I think Suarez is the only guaranteed starter of the front 3 so far
