The draw has been made and Swans' are at HOME to Barnsley. This was on BBC Radio but nothing on the site yet.
Yes we definitely have Barnsley at home, I saw the draw on Sky myself. It will be played w/c Mon 27th August.
Unless you make a definate effort to go all out and win this competition with your best side, it's just a lottery who will win each game because it depends who fields the better team of bench players and youngsters. I don't give this cup the time of day any more. [I'll probably still go though ]
Cardiff lost at Northampton last night. Akinfenwa came on as sub and put the frighteners on them. ...
Its the league cup - which always seems to attract unusual sponsors - who can forget the Milk cup or the wonderful Rumbelows cup!
Thanks guys. So in the League Cup we get Barnsley at home ... good chance for the younger squad players to get a chance ... Jazz, Ben Davies and Gwiron Edwards.
Would be good to give some game time to the younger members of the squad. Blend of youth and experience will do for me. Or will ML use this as a game for the team to bond etc.
I listened to the first 20 minutes or so on Radio Wales, then popped off to get a spot of Counselling. I'm O.K. now, thanks. ... Since Akinfenwa was a second half sub,I missed his contribution. If Cardiff fans were chanting against him, more likely because he is an ex Swan?
What a **** draw for both sides ay? Especially in a cup where no one gives a toss about it. Still probably be about 55 die hards reds there to see swansea reserves thump us.
Not sure, but a cardiff fan posted on twitter that they had witnessed football racism for the first time, it was apparently reported on Sky sports last night, haven't seen anything on it since though
I guess I'm going to be in a minority here but no way would I field a team of youngsters against Barnsley. Our established players are trying to adapt to a new system and our new signings are trying to adapt to everything. This would be a great opportunity to give them practise against a competent but weaker (no disrespect) team; to try things and develop an understanding without the pressure they would get from a PL side. By all means blood one or two youngsters, maybe bringing them on if and when the game is safe. But I would go with a heavy contingent of senior players to try and breed a winning mentality.
I'm with you on this Ivor. The first team need as much competitive matches as possible at the start of the season so I'd go with that and maybe bring subs on a little earlier than normal.
I'd rest Vorm and possibly Ash but that's about it. Put a strong team out and them take the big guns off if we can get a reasonable lead.
