They've still got to preform tho Swamp....

Ash, the same must go for you. A lot of Laudrups have come from abroad, usually from his previous clubs where his track record is quite bland. How do you think these "unknown" quantities will perform in the PL?

Bland? He took getafe to the europa league semi final losing in the last minute of injury time to bayern Munich. He also took them to the copa del rey final.
As for our unknown quantities.. Michu was the highest scoring midfielder last season in la liga. Chico was part of a defence that boasted the best defensive record outside the top two. They may be unknown to you but they are held in very high regard to others. <ok>

europa league is nowhere near as important as league positioning...

he's had an average managerial career, nothing more, nothing less.

as for michu, seems a gem but why werent other clubs willing to pay more than £2m?

The club Rayo are in serious financial trouble and needed to sell quick.. Michu said he wants to work for ML <ok>
As for league, your right he hasn't done anything spectacular.. Although he did keep real Mallorca up after all their main players were sold because of finances, and they were practically dead certs for relegation so that pretty impressive in its own right.

i would have thought rich clubs in russia and the PL would snap him up for double that or even more?? he could earn much more than what jenkins would offer him, and lets be honest thats pretty much all foreign players are interested in...

i know he did very well at getafe but i dont see much else swans m.

Bluesheep: Looking forwards to the new season mate. As you rightly said, we have a few new players that need to settle in quickly, but can't see a problem with Michu and Chico performing from the off. De Guzman I'm unsure of, but there must be something there, else one of the greatest players of our time wouldn't have signed him.

With regards to ML not having managerial experience, neither did Brendan Rodgers. Well, apart from two half seasons, and then two with us. Look at the bastard now, manager of Liverpool. All I can hope for is we keep our style of play, with a faster approach to attack, which we have seen in the pre season friendlies.

Swamp, as was stated, his club were in admin and needed to sell. The administrators told the club they had to accept our offer. Luckily for us, all was done and dusted before another club came in.

How was Tenby by the way fella? Weathers been good for it.

Overall, both Welsh clubs have made some shrewd signings. I think we will stay up, and you have a better chance now than you ever have to join us. Without souting it from the rooftops, I hope you do it, I miss the derby!

As for you John, your contribution to this thred is spot on :emoticon-0114-dull:

Ummm, you were on about swansea, so you wern`t talking about cardiff.

Also, you said above that you will get your rightful place back as Wales number one team, therefore insinuating we are number one. Make your mind up.

cheers jump and aber from somewhere else lol, weather was good about half the time, pissing it down now but i head home shortly

as for michu, fair enough, a bit like the victor moses situation when he went for a paltry £2m or so, i suspect he's doing very well out of the deal personally tho.

That's actually very funny Jon (to my perverted mind anyway!).......<laugh>

However, I would prefer it if you didn't refer to the jacks on practically every thread on which you comment. This thread in particular was started and evolved discussing the Newcastle game on Saturday and I was enjoying it - you just had to make a reference to Swansea for no good reason at all and it all took off again.

It may be no great loss to this board, but I've stepped back from the chat on here for the last couple of months and only decided to get involved again on this particular match thread now there was some football to talk about.

If you're going to continue with taking threads off topic with your fixation with everything "jack", then I'll not bother any more. Occasional banter is great, but to be honest I've got a bit pissed off with the gypo and pegs stuff through the summer - it's all got so boring mate.

I've never believed in a love-in with the jacks like some others on here might prefer, but ffs Jon, give it a rest on the decent football threads. If you want to post wum threads on here to wind them up, carry on - at least those that don't particularly want to get involved can ignore them.

Like I said, my decision may be no great loss to the board - I'll just have to enjoy the footy itself without the chat on here.

For what it's worth, I don't think I'm the only one that thinks that way. <ok>

Someone I work with went camping with his wife for their honeymoon. They're married some 30-odd years on but from what he says she hasn't let it go.
