Rehash of the same story with Spurs not publicly denying it being the added "evidence". Poor journalists don't seem to realise that now 'Arry's gone they're not going to get an answer to every bit of speculation they cook up.
It does seems like complete bull but maybe avb doesn't rate certain dm's at the club and wants to bring in his own players, its possible but seems complete bull to me, but as YV pointed out, this is how journos work, they drag up old stories and just claim clubs are making bids but have no evidence!
dunno if anyone's mentioned this, but has anyone seen that apparently Ramirez's agent has come out and said that we bid 16mill euro's, but our salary offer wasn't enough. he said they are standing by to see what happens with Modric, as the sale of him could result in offering more wages to Ramirez. interesting. - what i've seen of him, he looks very good. sorry, I don't know what came over me then... NEW STRIKER needed.
Man Utd are just as guilty of match fixing - there's the famous case from 1915 where they agreed to beat Liverpool 2-0 before a game, for starters.
We also have to remember Arsenal's shenanigans to get 'promoted' at our expense in 1919, IIRC. To this day Arsenal have been riding on the back of that decision as they never got promoted fairly, but have stayed in the top div ever since. Every trophy that Arsenal have ever won is tainted by the blatant unfairness of that 'promotion'.
Hi HBIC, good point, see my point about Arsenal. I would be indebted to you if you could change the 'spuds' in one of your signature quotes to Spurs. As you probably know, I detest the word 'spuds' when used about our great club, and it's really anoying to me to see it on a daily basis, now that I'm talking to you again. Cheers GH. Incidentally, I would guess that Arsenal will finish at least six points ahead of us, on the state of the current squads, theirs looks far stronger than ours.
Isn't Ramirez a left-footed right winger? I can see how that'd fit into Villas-Boas version of our current system. I'd love to know what our wage offer was. Perhaps if we can ship out the likes of Bentley and Jenas, then we can up it a bit?
At the risk of citing FM12 as a credible source, he's on £17.5k per week at Bologna, so I'm not sure what the issue with wages is - anything around the £30k mark would be a comfortable fit for our wage system whilst more or less doubling his wages, and leave plenty of room for an improved contract to put him on parity with our higher earners a couple of seasons down the line.
And so it continues - apparently we bid for Lloris - turned down. We also apparently bid for Gaston Ramirez - turned down. Yawn - when does next season start?
Hi HBIC - I see the dreaded Spuds word is still appearing in your sig I implore and humbly beg you to remove it. I hate that *****ing word, it denigrates our club.
Its a vegetable. It shows how weak minded those people who seek to bring the name down are. If by replacing one letter they've upset you that much, you need to consider the effects you have on clubs like 'Chelski' 'Le Arse' 'Loserpool' etc. Spuds is pathetic, and to be honest, I'm sure I'm not the only one who can honestly say I hardly even notice it anymore. And I'd dread to see you at dinner in my Granny's house if you're afraid of spuds...
Fixed. Arsenal fans have yet to realise there's many ways we can change one letter of Gooners to be far more biting - Gonners is the PC one, whilst John Terry and Luis Suarez would prefer to change the G to a C.
I know that potatoes are a vegetable and I'm not afraid of them. Personally I don't like any of the name calling like Loserpool, etc, but each to their own. If people want to indulge in that, fine. I've taken up Spurs disciple's suggestion and removed all sigs from view, so it shouldn't be a problem any more. Any oppo fans who come on here calling us spuds, I'll just put them on ignore, and I assume no Spurs fans would refer to us by that horrible name.
Thanks HBIC, and duly repped. Incifdentally as you can see in another post, I've got round the problem, by removing all sigs from view, so by all means leave Spuds in your sig, if you want.
Fabrice Muamba announces his retirement. If Harry was still in charge, we would've made a sneaky bid for him by now...
ermm.. sorry if I'm being blind and have missed this somewhere, but everyone is aware of sky reporting that we've accepted 23.5m for Modric rising to £27, right?! just surprised there's not been uproar on here yet!
FFS! £27m! I might fly to Spain, whip off my trous, bend over and present myself to the Real president just to make his day
