Twitter rumours circulating that we're signing Nuri Sahin and Christian Tello on loan and Clint Dempsey in a player plus cash deal, the player is Charlie Adam. SSN reports Ian Ayre has been in Spain negotiating with both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
SSN: Negotiations with Barcelona and Real Madrid have stalled due to the two Spanish Clubs starting a brawl using rotten cabbage and tomatoes in the process. Ayre said, "bringing the two Clubs together to negotiate two separate deals turned out to be a bad idea". More to follow...
Zingy that's a load of crap and you know it. There is no reason why the 2 deals would (or even could) be negotiated together.
He never said he would leave for Barca, he said it would make it difficult to stay. Daily Mail sensationalist headlines again.
dont want agger to leave under any circumstances look at the carroll situation from the new owners point of view - they had just replaced fellow yanks who were trying to make as much money as they could by destroying the club - selling torres for such a big sum so soon after taking over would have sent out a bad message - agree it wouldn't have made much difference to our season ps. any player we tried to sign on that day knew we had 50m burning a hole in out pocket and was going to raise their prices
when torres and mereiles moved they both said that the public did not know the whole story - it's an easy thing to say without explaining the real reasons - they try to divert the blame elsewhere without explaining what they actually did - probably told to say this as it makes them look less like the mercenaries they really are
if he has a bad season we wont get much for him - if he has a great season we wont want to sell him - catch 22 methinks -
re rodgers "doing things" to keep real targets quiet. May i say that i have NEVER in 20 years seen a surprise lfc signing.... every bloody one we know... allen and borini for example. when its REAL we know its real and when its paper talk we know it too. dempsey is not paper talk nor is sahin. downing was unpopular signing while others were giving it we want diver yuong please.. everyone with sense knew it was downing..... enrique again totally known. the only exception i suppose is carroll who as we all know was a 6 hour panic buy off the cuff... so the sieve like anfield corridors or power didn;t have time then to flag it to their mates. Can anyone think of more examples where a signing was not known weeks in advance of the actually arrival? nobody under kenny, nobody under hodgson, under rafa there might be one or two mainly disinteresting ones.
Anelka on loan was quite a surprise. Jordan Henderson too. Bellamy was quite sudden but he was talked about briefly in a couple of papers before the move.
Unbelievable I know, completely kept under wraps, the way we are meant to be doing business, this is the real 'behind closed doors' sort of negotiating FSG and Kenny would have wanted.
Totally agree on Xabi, but agree to disagree on Torres, no way those deals happened so quick, and if you remember, henry alluded to as much as did Torres. But no biggie s'all in the past. Personally i am very happy that BR has come out and said he does not want Agger to leave, so no-one wants him to leave, therefore if he does it is all down to cash. Still in disgust at RVP deal. My boss who is a manu fan said he thought there was a huge difference between the heinze And RVP deals and that Fergie was not hypocritical. Guess when it our own club it is hard to detach our thoughts and see the obvious sometimes
To be honest, we're all a little bit self-centred and hypocritical when it comes to our own clubs. Supposing if it were Manchester United or Arsenal that went through the problems we did with our previous owners, we would proclaim that we wouldn't take the piss. Of course we would. Football support is about rivalry and competition. If we can benefit from one of our rivals weakening then so be it. How many people can honestly say they haven't celebrated when RVP left Arsenal? or when it was announced Luka Modric is leaving Spurs? There is also something else I don't like, and its rather stupid. I hate this ''x club bought the title'' How on earth can you buy a title? You can buy players, but buy titles?
At the risk of starting a love in totally agree again. As for buying titles every club buys the title it is just at what speed, until someone comes into the league Roy of the Rovers style and plays the same team from bottom through to the top then you have to buy players pay higher wages, we technically bought the league by paying higher wages in the eighties. No probs with what city have done, utd have been pushing transfer sales up for years, so has chelsea, so did we and now someone has come along to blow our spending power away and people start to say that this is wrong, at the end of the day only eleven players on the pitch at once. City can afford to do what milan did in the eighties and buy players not to strengthen them but to weaken the opposition. If they stupid enough to go more fool them. Last team i can think of that came close to winning without money would prob be Wimbledon but dont know enough abou them and even they prob spent money getting to div 1
