The ever reliable Sun thinks hes off to Weds for £1m.

I wouldnt even bother negotiating, Id just snap their hands off at that fee before they change their mind.

Almost definitely bollocks- he's played for Dave Jones before so you'd think they'd be less likely to buy him than clubs doing it the Paladini way.

I may be a lone voice on here but I'd say, until we can replace him, Betty is a useful member of our squad. I think he's got more to offer than we saw in his limited appearances last season.

Threaded below is a post I originated back on 11th July last year:

The £2.5m buyout clause seems high now! :)

    http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/64611-Jay-Bothroyd?p=791341#post791341

I guess this is old news, but I stumbled upon this on a Sheffield United forum.

Apologies in advance if this has already been covered....

    "Hi Gianni,

Further to our conversation an hour ago I want to confirm that the
details below is the official final offer from Queens park Rangers FC:

    Player Jay Bothroyd
Term 2 Years ( compulsory option for 3rd year if QPR are in Premier League
and the player makes 19 appearances in the 2013/2014 season ).
    Salary £25,000 per week ( including S.O.F ) = £1,300,000.
Appearance £2,500 per game ( named in 18 man squad )
Bonus £250,000 for each season QPR remain in the Premier League ( payable at the end of each season )
£2,500 per game ( named in 18 man squad ) if QPR remain in Premier League ( payable at the end of each season )
Relegation If QPR are relegated in the 2011/2012 season then the player will be allowed to leave for the price of £1,250,000.
The player will receive £250,000 from the £1,250,000.
Buy-Out The player will have a buy-out price of £2,500,000. This will be applicable at the end of the 2011/2012 season if QPR remain in the Premier League.
Agents Fee £130,000 per year (£260,000) as per representation agreement.
£25,000 payable each year QPR are in Premier League.

Please confirm by return that the above is correct.
    Best,
    Sky "

Yes, as they are only asking us for £1m to take him off our hands I think we should pay up immediately.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Arsenal got rid of him in 2000 when he would have been 18, so you seem to be assuming that teenagers never improve either their attitude or ability. And, of course, Arsene is never wrong in assessing players, is he?

As for Cardiff, I recall they made considerable efforts to keep him and are rumoured to be after him at the moment.

If you were to say that Bothroyd hasn't performed up to expectations at the moment, I couldn't disagree but quoting his career at those two clubs is hardly a compelling argument is it?
