Can't find a match report anywhere but I know a bit about the game as my friend plays for York. I know Oxley was in net and looked quite poor. East was at RB, had a decent game but made a few reckless challenges considering it was a friendly. Bradley and Cullen played despite being out on loan. Olofinjana played in holding midfield, looked a cut above, picking out great passes and finding space. Bradley looked steady, don't know who the other CB was. Our left-back had to be taken off after 10 minutes but could still walk. I think it was Townsend but not 100%. Cullen supposedly looked useless, couldn't fashion himself a single chance. Think Devitt played right-wing. Our 2 goals were both scored by the other striker that wasn't Cullen, so I am guessing Emerton, who seems to be scoring goals for fun. Apparently a lad on the City bench who came on for the last 10 minutes was claiming to have signed from Grimsby for £250,000, don't know if anyone knows anything more about this?
goalscorer - Clarkson perhaps. Grimsby kid - Jack Barlow possibly as I know he is arrogant and got a hefty wedge as a signing fee from Duffen I believe?
I think it was, but it could include clauses on top that someone who'd go round bragging about that sort of thing would include. I know he hasn't played for us yet, but his involvement in the England setup at different levels could also be triggering additional payments.
are you mixing him up with max clark? i dont think he's represented england at any evel, and if he has its never been reported anywhere?
i ve asked before, and there's nothing on the football league site yet, but does anyone know what kind of a reserve league is going to left next season? can't we administrate our own amongst some decent opposition?
When we signed Marney it was for £500k, with another £500k due if we got promoted to the PL. When signing a youngster if they're really highly rated in terms of potential it wouldn't surprise me for the fee to be mainly add ons rather than guaranteed. As an example, if the selling club is so confident he'll be Championship standard that they want £200k for him then surely they'd be more likely to accept £100k up front with another £200k in potential add ons, because we'd be prepared to pay £300k for a Championship player, but wouldn't want to gamble £200k up front. If not then they're just casting doubts on his ability to do it, which means he's not worth what they're asking. Yes, so previous suggestion withdrawn.
Like I said, wasn't there, was informed by a mate who plays for York, probably doesn't know too well who our ressies/youth players are. Either that or Cullen was upset that it said he was crap.
I can't see anyone triggering a clause without a single first team appearance, I wonder if this is someone we don't know about yet. Isn't the mystery striker more likely to be Margetts?
It might have done if it had been Max Clark and the clauses had been split between club and international appearances at various levels. As we then determined I was thinking of Clark and not Barlow it's now a moot point though.
Why would Bradley come all the way back from Aldershot to play a game for our reserves when he played 120 minutes and got man of the match for them on Saturday? I'd be amazed if him or Cullen played, it would be a terrible decision.
I suspect the kid passing on the info was not all that familiar with our squad and was maybe guessing at some of the players, it doesn't mean it's all rubbish. I don't think that Cullen or Bradley played, but I've no reason to doubt the rest as a result.
It's changed slightly this year. HDM had an article about it, although I can't seem to find it online so this is just from memory. As well as playing the usual Gateshead etc we'll be playing 4 or 5 new teams (Stockport is one from memory). Although it's split over 2 or 3 divisions/competitions.
Barlow would have been involved, he tweeted yesterday that he was off to York. Doubt Sonny Bradley played. He tweeted a pic of his knee in a massive ice-pack at the weekend after the Aldershot game.
