The home game against Leeds on Saturday 29th December will now kick-off at 12.30pm... http://www.hullcityafc.net//news/article/leeds-utd-h-kick-off-time-change-311549.aspx?
I thought Leeds was already on a Tuesday night home and away. They were never gonna let us play it on a Saturday at 3pm were they?
Especially not during the Xmas holidays when people are drinking more than normal. Only time they've made a good decision on this was the year we went on New Year's Eve and they moved it forward to lunch time because it allowed us all to get back nice and early, then they tried to cock that one up by making it a bubble wrap game until they were forced to back down.
The game between us at the King Power Stadium will probably be moved aswell. Leicester Tigers are at home on the same day and because we are near enough next to each other with the Leicester royal infirmary in between us we aren't allowed to both play at home on the same day
Lunchtime and tea time kickoffs for the two games then? (If us and FC can do it in the same ground there's no reason not to when you've got two grounds to use)
As far as i know off we not allowed to play on the same day regardless of kick off times The problem for us is the hospital is literally in the middle of us. Having 40,000 people on the roads around the hospital blocks ambulances and stuff from getting in and out the hospital plus i dont think the Police are too keen on it
I understand some folks see 3pm as a historic time for games to kick off, but for years now, they get moved all over the place. Plus derby type games like this DO have the potential for trouble, especially from pissed up chavs from both sides with imaginary axes to grind, so I see why they'd move it earlier on to hopefully mitigate the potential for trouble. So, genuine question: What is it about moving the game to 12:30 that annoys some of you so much?
Yeah surely Leicester can? Hull City play during the day and Hull FC on the evening sometimes and our stadium is next to the Infirmary
We get bigger attendaces at both the rugby and football, plus there isnt great links in and out of the King Power Stadium
That's ridiculous then. As someone has said, we're right next to the hospital, and we're pretty much in the middle of town (it takes up to an hour just t get out the car park), but we've had games at 12:30 and then had the rugby on at a later time. I definitely remember 29th September a few years back (it's my birthday, just can't remember which one) we had Ipswich, then I watched the Man U game in pub (must have been the tea time PL game) and FC kicked off about 10 minutes before the end of that game because the FC fans in the pub were whinging to **** that they wouldn't put their game on.
Not so much now I come down for weekends, but travel is a pain in the arse for the early kickoffs. In terms of Leeds it's not exactly disastrous as an away game from Hull, but any longer journeys you end up being up at inhumane hours to get there. I remember Ipswich being at lunch time due to FC playing later in the day (two threads in a row I've mentioned this game now), and in order to be there for that game I had to start my journey on Friday night and spend the night in York (I say in, I went out round York). They're a lot better than moving them to a Sunday though, I can't even get to Edinburgh before 10am on a Sunday, never mind be in Hull for lunchtime. EDIT: It's not two different threads, it's the same thread opened in two tabs in my browser.
3pm is the traditional time for the game of the working man in this country Enough time to relish the anticipation, timed so people can enjoy their lunch and their tea afterwards, allows hard working people to have a lie-in and still do stuff in the morning, allows people from further afield to see the game and get home again, etc etc The atmosphere is ****ed up completely for noon kickoffs, and it's the police who decide these things to suit themselves not the fans or the public.
We get bigger attendances than you when we are doing well rather than ****. You hit the nail on the head- your inferior stadia cause egress issues.
Im not getting into a debate about attendaces. Just look at the stats from last season and any other year. We get bigger attendaces at both Football and rugby And yes the links to the KP are crap, we all know that, there is only really 2 ways in and out the stadium
Good. The less of the no mark parasite fanbase who can make it here the better.[/QUOTE] Yeah cos that time is gonna have a massive effect on how many we bring. We're talking our away following here, not yours.
For a one hour journey I don't see it affecting anybody's ability to bring a following. It's just annoying that now Bates will be sending us a hotel bill that he expects us to pay.
