Seems like a million years ago now.

Remember going to Stevenage in more recent times and having a good day out.

Toon Vs Grimsby Town, April 1983

    Score: 4:0
    Scorers: Varadi 2, Keegan, McDermott

Keegan's debut season. I remember the home fans giving Varadi some real stick despite scoring 2 (and i'm sure having a hand in the others). I turned to my dad and asked why the crowd were booing him and calling him names when he was helping the team to win.

Without even turning his head to face me, my dad said sharply, through gritted teeth: "Quiet son, he's useless!"

My first real footballing leasson and a memory I shall never forget. <laugh>

Mine was Nottingham Forest away in the FA cup...Can't remember when, could've been 96 or 97...

Shearer Beardsley up front was all I can remember, we drew 0-0.

My dad is a "support all the north east teams" man and my first professional match was actually at 5under1and. Even went there twice before the Toon actually. If memory serves me right they lost to Liverpool in my first game and drew with Notts Forest next time out. Soon got my wish to see MY team though and first game was in pouring rain on a night under the lights where we won 4-1 against Wolves. I was in the paddock and got soaked but loved it. Think it was early 1969.
Only been back to 5under1and when they playing the Toon since then.

Good to see the variation of years on here. Shows the young uns that you never grow up and the passion and pain stays with you forever.

    Newcastle 1-4 Liverpool

I was 9 years old, Owen got a hatrick. Seem to remember Ian Rush playing up front for us and feeling quite depressed about it!

    Newcastle 1-0 Villa 1995/6 I think?

I was only 4 at the time but can still remember Sir Les' bullet header to get us the win.

May 02 1992 - Last game of the season Vs. Leicester

was given a ticket as a mates uncle didn't want to go as it was a must win game otherwise we'd have been relegated to the old league 3

thankfully we won and stayed up, been hooked on NUFC ever since

Can't remember the year, but it was an FA cup game against Man City. We won 1-0, Shearer scored. We got Arsenal in the next round.

I think my first was 2-1 against Croatia Zagreb. I remembered Beresford scoring, it was a qualifier for the Champions league and i think Bereford scored (ot was the season when he scored something like 4 goals in 6 games and we promptly sold him (August 1997 at a guess)

Portsmouth at home in the league cup in the 87/88 season. Can't remember much about it. We drew 1-1. Was nearly 6 at the time so prob just a bit too young to fully appreciate what was going on.
