I'm trying to consider the defensive side of our game. Guly, despite dividing opinion, has improved massively in tracking back and helping the full-back.
The best midfields dominate the play so much they have tons of energy to press to get the ball back. Completely different to the scenario facing Southampton this season. As for Parker he was man of the match when we beat Spain 1-0 at Wembley, kind of proves my point you need these sort of players against top sides.
A footballer needs to have more to his game than just diving around and blocking shots here and there and making tackles, which in Hammond's case are pretty poor tackles. He is slow, lethargic, poor technically and tactically,I mean he isn't much of a player. An average championship player at best. My head and eyes literally hurt when I see him play.He is such a boring and inefficient player that is very overrated by the "old school" supporters that browse on this site. Schneiderlin and Cork are twice the player that he is. Don't be silly.
Can't help but feel that is rather harsh on Hammond. If he is an average Championship player who is poor physically, technically and tactically how is he an average Championship midfielder? That's the 2nd tier of English football? I'd not mind a career playing at that level! It's not like an embarrassment. You don't like him because he is a "boring" player. Seriously? What the hell. I don't exactly think Cork is an "exciting" player, who thrills the crowd, but they all have their part to play. It's all relative. The likes of Hammond and co allowed players like Lallana to flourish and show their technical ability. It's about finding the balance. You're either being very ignorant and disregarding about Championship players, who we have many of, or you are just an absolute fool. I vote for the second one.
The qualities you describe are of a local sunday league player not a Championship quality player. Get a grip. Hammond is boring to you as you don't appreciate the type of player that he is. You are no doubt someone that doesn't understand a cagey tense low scoring important game and would disregard it as boring and uneventful compared to a meaningless high scoring dead rubber.
Poor compared to a Premier League player,of course he is much better than the average pub player. He is a professional footballer so you'd expect him to be better than you and me. He is an average championship player.Which is good,I suppose for the average person.
He isn't as good as you say he is. He doesn't win as many 50/50's as people think he does.I'd like to see the stats regarding 50/50's involving him.
Or for the "average Championship player" who is playing at the right level, has proven himself and is performing as he should. You talk so much crap it is untrue. Mods can we sort this out, all Banana's new accounts are driving me mad. The guy is an absolute waste of his father's sperm.
Yeah, there is not need to be so hateful.I didn't know that he was your boyfriend. P.S-No one can ban me.
I'm not saying that. I'd pick those 3 ahead of him always. But I don't think Hammond is as bad as Banana made him out to be. He made some stupid statements so I replied to them. Writing a player off for being "boring" is absolutely idiotic.
How do we know how good he is in the Prem if he's never played there before? Just like Grant Holt, Keith Southern and a large amount of footballers did before their clubs were promoted over the past few seasons who managed the step up perfectly. Play him the first few games, see if he's out of his depth. Then there's plenty of time to save the season and we can say "Yes, he can't hack it". He's the captain for a reason, and I think Nigel will stick by him in that respect. What he does isn't pretty, but someone has to. It's not like we have anyone else to do it. For you to come out with such criticism is unfounded, and your logic could apply to so many players. Lambert does nothing but stick it in the net. Boring. He never played above League One before us, he mustn't be good enough for the Prem. If you're gonna criticise them, at least construct it better.
He did a dirty job though, in the Championship anyway I dropped the ball with Southern. Saw 20-odd games in the Prem without realising most of them were from the bench
Reckon we'll sign someone this week and he'll be on the bench on Sunday. ---------------------------------------Davis--------------------------------------- ------------------------Fonte----------------------Hooiveld---------------------- ----Clyne--------------------------------------------------------------Fox-------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------Morgan---------------------Davis-------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------Lallana--------------------------------------- -----Puncheon---------------------------------------------------Rodriguez------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------Lambert--------------------------------------- Subs: Gazzaniga, (NEW CB), Richardson, Ward-Prowse, Guly, De Ridder, Sharp. City will try power through central midfield like last season. We need at least three compact players in there to stop an onslaught. City 3-0. Aguero, Kompany and Nasri.
