Only if the referee submits a report (which they don't need to for friendlies). With regards Terry, he's been given a 3 match ban, that's been reduced by UEFA to 2 matches with 1 match suspended for 3 years. Rooney just got his international ban reduced to 2 games ahead of the Euros so Terry has ended up with a harsher punishment. Doesn't it being suspended for 3 years also mean that if he gets sent off in that time he has to serve that game on top of whatever suspension he gets then?
Rooney was banned for 2 games in a tournament lasting 6 games at most (33% minimum, turned out to be 50%), had he done the same thing in the opening game, he'd have got 1 game. Terry has been given a 1 competitive game ban for a tournament lasting up to 13 games.............seems fair mate!!!
Terry has been given a 2 match ban, and he's got an additional game hanging over his head for the next time he gets sent off. He's already served one game by sitting out the CL Final because UEFA take forever to deal with these things, whist Rooney had to sit out 2 group games. EDIT: And if you're going to pull the length of the competition into it why not go with the fact Rooney was actually in a competition that lasted for 16 games starting with 2 group stages?
No, he's been given a 1 competitive game ban (there's no way they'll enforce the suspended game, they never do) for a tournament lasting up to 13 games, Rooney got 2 competitive games in a tournament lasting 6 games max. What are you on about "UEFA take forever to deal with these things"??? Players sent off in Europe are banned immediately for the next game, how fast do you want them to be??

This isnt a pub team friendly, it was an internationally shown match so of course the report should be submitted. Do you think Barton would have got off without a ban if he did what he did at City in the CS?
You have of course got examples of players being given suspended ban from UEFA, committing another offence and then not having to serve the suspended ban? What I mean by they take ages with these things is: Rooney got sent off in October. They finally decided it would be a 2 game ban in December. (I've just found out his has a game suspended as well) Terry got sent off on 24th April. They've only just resolved the matter of how long his suspension will be 3 1/2 months later. In this case it means he's already served the first game of his ban because he was suspended for the Final last season.
That's a seperate point altogether. They changed the rules years ago so that the Community Shield counts as a reserve team game not a first team game, ironically after the two Man U players you mentioned got suspended for their red cards in a preseason competition to prevent the same happening again. The Man U players you were using to support your comment about getting suspended for red cards in friendlies only got suspended because the referee submitted the report to the FA, which he wasn't obliged to do despite it being broadcast around the world as well.
Disturbing for me is the comments of our new England Manager. He has publicly stated, ahead of the FA hearing and decision, that he hopes Terry will get off. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19265329 For the England Manager to even be commenting at all on an ongoing FA disciplinary case is wrong. Roy's just taken a big step down in my estimation - I wasn't convinced he was the right person for the job on footballing grounds, and I now have grave doubts about his ability to hold down such a high-level job.
