A lack of fitness wasn't a problem against QPR. The reason for that was sloppiness, after the second goal we stopped playing and we got what we deserved.

That's my point, the first game of the season showed that sloppiness, not burying teams, and letting teams back in, fitness or not it became the norm very quick. Arsenal, United, City, Chelsea we were right up for it, the QPR, Swans, Norwich, we would conitnually drop points to these teams. Fulham away was brutal as well.

The other was getting behind. We would get behind in games and then oh it's time to kick on, or the last 10 minutes, **** we need to win this! I just hope for a consistent effort regardless of who the opposition is ( league only, cups we were fine).

Even in those games against the bigger sides I don't think we got the deserved number of points. Okay in one way we got what we deserved by not killing them off, but our overall approach play was quite good. Therefore we should have beaten United, Arsenal, City and Spurs at home. Instead we picked up 3 points out of 12.

Ya, it is both sides of the coin, collecting from the big boys takes away from the big boys but I just feel we have got to end this run from the past 3-4 seasons where we struggle mightily with the lower end teams and don't take the points away that are needed.

This is my theory, maybe just maybe Brendan Rodgers formation and strategy will ensure we become flat-track bullies. If you remember correctly only Manchester United had it anyway comfortable at the Liberty stadium.

    Let's hope so. <ok>

United always have it comfortable against the smaller sides, makes me sick. <grr>

They invented the term flat-track bullies. 2008/2009 was a prime example. They could turn a difficult game into a scrappy 1-0 win. Their win against Stoke in January 2009 when Tevez scored was in someway priceless, almost as priceless as their 3-2 win against Villa when Macheda scored the winner.

This is again not what the manager will be looking at.

Squad availability and rotation apart for up coming games, it is one game at a time at this stage until 10 games in at the very least.

I do not care who we play the target for 10 games is 23 points or more, this is an expectation and we must have them, well Brendan and the players must.

Ya it will be one game at a time but there are short term goals and long term goals you create with a team. A long term goal or a goal for the season should be taking care of the teams we are supposed to, maximizing results at home, getting to the Europa final, etc. Short term would be in these 10 games we need to aim for 23 points, who do we play and how do we go about preparing for that.

I agree on the 23 points - 2.3 points per game, pretty high win percentage but we should be aiming big. I know the 3 games against United, City, and Arsenal look daunting but aren't they all at home and we normally raise our game against them.

fair kop :) We should be taking this form into the league, I will not accept losing to those three at home nor will Rogers, he wouldn't at Swansea so definitely not with us I would say

I am hoping he is giving those mentioned food for thought with our current form. 3 games 1 goal sure Chavsky conceded 3 in one game. I like those odds <laugh>

Arenal lucky to escape with the win instead of being 5 down, City got a fortunate point as did UNnited, chavsky got hammered. I do not fear arsenal one jot.

My biggest fear about Liverpool not finishing in the top four is not Arsenal, Spurs or Newcastle. Its Liverpool themselves, I'll tell you why. They have a tendency to drop stupid points. Out of all the top 8 teams they seem the most likely to get a draw against a promoted side at home. Arsenal are the second most likely. Its like Wayne Rooneys mental block when he plays on merseyside, its always there.

2009 was the biggest pain for me in a long time. We handed United the league, bad enough when they win it but to go " here Fergie and the lads have this we dont want it" <doh>

I know Real were not top dogs that year but we still destroyed them, only legs let us fail at the bridge in the end to progress in the CL too

Absolutely spot on. 13 away wins, 2 defeats all season and 7 more points than we had when we last won it and we ended up being runners up? Chelsea won it with the same number of points in 2010? This can be only be described as disgraceful.

  16. We finished top of that mini-league whereas they finished bottom, but they won the league...

  17. We had a fantastic finish to that season. We went something like thirteen game unbeaten where the only points dropped where in the 4-4 draw with Arsenal. Damn you Arshavin!!! <grr>

Its one of the hardest things to take being a liverpool fan. Watching them play exeptional football against united city chelsea ect, then look like a sunday league team against stoke, wba ect.

We can get ourselves into a good position in the league, you look a the next 4 games and think 10 points in the bag and they come out the other side with 5 after losing away to a poor side drawing 2 at home to newbies and winning away and chelsea. its ****ing infurating.

It was actually the last 12 games and we won 10 drew 1 lost to Middlesbrough in a horrible game, we were dreadful. That was the first of the 12. Had we beaten Boro and Arsenal, we would have won the league by a point.
