It seems odd to be talking about the defense when it played so well last seasons end....maybe we need to get Bosingwa back!!!!! Maybe Oscar will be the link in midfield. We've changed more than most teams this year so a little settling in should be expected but with Wigan and Reading I'm hoping a good start,top of the table and a the confidence will see us settling in for a good season.
We were sluggish, and several players had stinkers, Mikel, Lamps, Luiz, Cole ( who bucked up a bit later on) Terry whose lack of pace seems to be an ever increasing problem. Still, the real work hasn't started yet, and once we bed some new boys in and up the fitness another 10%, expect us to go well. Incidently heard an interesting theory from a mate of mine who was a rugby international. He thinks the reason why Luiz and Terry or Cahill and Terry struggle is because of the difference in acceleration speed of the younger ones compared to Terry. Luiz and Cahill are quicker off the mark , and so in 10 metres, JT is 3 metres behind, leaving a gap for the opposition to exploit. When Luiz and Cahill play together this doesn't happen. CL final a great example.
