To be fair that article is bollocks. They are valuing the club based on the value of shares which come with no real voting rights and no rights to dividends. If and when the club is sold the buyer would have all these rights meaning the 'real' share value would be alot higher

No, that article is probably fair in what it says. But then they are using 'accurate valuation measures' based on valuing clubs based on profits and assets, not brands. Those same valuation measures say Google, Apple, Coca Cola and any number of other companies with very valuable brands are massively over valued.

The article is basically saying Utd doesn't make as much profit as other companies with the same value. But that ignores the inherent subjectivity of valuing companies.

 

But seeing as the shares are never going to be sold for 'accurate market value' the article is bollocks

There is no way United would be sold now for less than the Glazers paid.

 

It most probably is bollocks. But you can never say never as far as shares are concerned. I know of companies which own land and have been valued at less than half the value of the land they own! Then on the other hand there was Amazon.com which didn't make any money for about a decade, but was still valued at billions of pounds.
