Let's sell a few players so that I can strengthen the team. Surely he must have known that Bates has his pockets sewn up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19196349
I look forward to all of the Battle of Britain cliches. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19209166
Interesting to see that other clubs are coming to loan arrangements with foreign teams. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19225698

I don't mind him making a donation through 44 league games: http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/NewsAndFeatures/2012/scott-loach-heroes-children-fund-clean-sheet Also, does he get one if they lose a cup tie on penalties after a 0-0 draw?
A team from Hampshire seemingly breaking the rules the rest of us have to live by. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19243575 Next thing you know they'll be reporting that water is wet.
Sorry! There are just certain clubs that don't learn, and Hampshire has two of the three worst offenders. We have a habit of spending ourselves into a hole and taking several years to get back out of it, but provided that everyone gets made whole again and that those in need get paid promptly, there's no issue. Every club has the occasional bad egg of an owner, but the difference is that Pompey and Saints (as well as Leeds) have cultures, spanning many years, of going two or three steps beyond the very modest standards that other clubs generally adhere to.
It looks as if the last hope now is the supporters trust. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-Balu-Chainrai-withdraws-bid-to-buy-club.html
Am I missing something here? As far as I can tell, Chainrai promised to take over the club on the condition that every last player was released. This has been achieved. Now he is walking away? Is there any way of going any further with this argument without defaming an entirely innocent man?
While I wouldn't argue with the criticism of the two clubs I do take issue with the assumption this has something to do with Hampshire as a county. It covers a considerable area...includes towns like Winchester, Basingstoke, Petersfield...and most of its residents do not think of themselves as having anything more to do with Southampton and Portsmouth than they do with Brighton or Bournemouth. It's a bit like assuming any criticism of Watford is a criticism of Hertfordshire. So there you are, it shows how the newest residents are sometimes the most sensitive...
I wonder if this issue was the main reason: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11674/7984047/Chainrai-urges-admin-fee-cut
Fair point. I'll be more careful to use statements such as "Hampshire's league clubs" or "Portsmouth and Southampton" in future. Although while we're on the subject of counties, more Olympic golds came from Hertfordshire than from Spain, Brazil, South Africa or India.
