    Morning all

Off to the smoke shortly for lunch with younger daughter. I could see the point of the closing ceremony in that it was a party and aimed at a youngish audience. A lot of the music wasn't to my taste but then I don't suppose the organisers had me in mind when planning it <whistle>

Closing ceremony was awesome. A couple of duff items (agree with you Salisbury on the 2nd GM song), but some brilliant stuff as well - Ed Sheeran singing Wish You Were Here, The Who and I really liked Jessie J doing Queen - yeah I know Freddie M cannot be replaced, but I thought the way it was put togther was awesome.
Well that's me done - holiday head is now fully on..

    Hey all :)

So August was meant to be a month of relaxation and seeing friends before I started my new job in September, got a phone call and the start date has been pushed back to April so I'm pretty screwed as I'd left my job, just glad I hadn't put a deposit down on anywhere. Just putting a lot of strain on relationships as its a further 7 months apart etc, not all that fun really.

As for the closing ceremony, I rather liked it, obviously GM 2nd song was terrible and also Annie Lennox's was a tad odd but apart from that I thought it was enjoyable. Brazil's bit was certainly interesting...

It seems so, I don't want to throw up much of a fuss as I do want the job come April but when you have readied to move away and move in with your girlfriend, who hasn't taken the news that well, it's pretty rough really

Hi all - had a great weekend - the new granddaughter is too cute for words. Mrs L was overjoyed to see her - there was a time earlier this year when she seriously thought it was not to be. Lovely

Also stopped in on No 4's new home on our way back in Bristol and that is very nice too and in just a week or so they have made it really nice.

Agree with others on closing ceremony GM's 2nd song rubbish and perhaps one or two numbers not really to my taste but overall it and the
Olympics as a whole were fantastic

Having not watched it - in what way was it interesting? A mass display of waxing? ;)

Bad news on the job front for you - you must be feeling so frustrated. I hope you can find something to tide you over.

A wine garage! :emoticon-0132-envy: I have to make do with cardboard wine carrier from Tescos :(

I trust that everything was dutifully declared as you passed through customs?

No need to BB - being in the EU, duty is considered as paid. Of course if Yorkie had a truck full it would be a different story. I think they class it as "reasonable personal consumption" - just have to hope that the customs definition of reasonable is the same as ours! <yikes>

But i was a bit worried about our case of french cheeses... you cant bring dairy in... so if they stop you you have to give it all up.

That happened to me years ago - after a holiday here, I flew back to Oz with two rounds of stilton which were taken off me at customs, much to my disgust. The buggers also tried to take my two eight-pint cans of Youngs Best Bitter, telling me that they came into the category of spirits - at least I won that argument.
