Neil Warnock did a great job for us, happy to leave it there, what Championship side wouldn't have Diuof
By Paul Moore Neil Warnock has signed El Hadji Diouf for Leeds United. Controversially so. To most QPR fans Neil Warnock is held in very high regard. The way he got us promoted was a season none of us will ever forget. He managed to turn a team around and take them to the Promised Land. I will admit at first I wasnât sure about him but he soon won me round. One of his first signings for the club was Jamie Mackie; I have to say Iâd never heard of him. After just a couple of games I was a big fan; his work rate to this day amazes me. A box to box player if ever I saw one. In January 2011 we played Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in an FA Cup game. Now Neil could have rested a few players as our league form was superb and promotion was the target. The only player rested was Adel Taarabt. A loose ball that two players went for ended up with Jamie Mackie breaking his leg. A bad injury but not the first time a player has broken his leg on a football field. El Hadji Diouf said some unsavoury words that I wonât repeat as I wonât come down to his level. To sum it up he thought he was play acting and swore at a fellow professional while he lay on the floor in agony. As Mackieâs manager of course Neil Warnock had his say, he called Diouf âa sewer ratâ amongst other things. I loved the way Warnock didnât let Diouf bully or talk his way out of it and the QPR fans loved him for it. After promotion and with results not going his way the new owners had a tough decision to make and sadly for a lot of fans Warnock was let go. It split the fans down the middle until now. He took the job as Leeds United Manager and now he has signed Diouf! Iâm sorry, but how the hell can you do that? The respect he had has simply gone out the window. Of all the players in the entire world why did he need to sign a man with Diouf's history? A few days ago Neil Warnock would have been welcomed back to Loftus Road with any team he managed; now it wonât matter because this is unforgivable. I suppose I feel like a lot of QPR fans; let down and by a man that was held in such high regard. http://hereisthecity.com/2012/08/12/qpr-fans-betrayed-by-neil-warnocks-latest-leeds-united-signing/ Good account of the matter, pretty much sums up what I feel about it myself.
It seems we are still split down the middle to me. Some consider our promotion season to be so important that they appear willing to overlook any amount of inconsistency. I actually think the unusual behaviour was when Warnock so publically criticized Dioiuf. NW has always had a penchant for giving scum bags a second/third/fourth chance and Bates is just the man to give him the opportunity. What price Barton ending up at Elland Road at some stage?
I think i could name at least 13 teams no sweat. NW did a great job for us in that league but in the Premier he was nothing short of disgraceful and again has shown his naivety in players. Leeds will sack him within 12 months and he will at last retire to Cornwall.
People change there mind that what Colin has done here he doesnt have much money to spend and he reckons Diouf can do a job for leeds. Nothing wronmg with that
There are loads of players he could have signed. An Ageing Diouf is not going to make that much difference to his side. Gone way down in my estimations. Would love to know what Mackie thinks, and hill and Derry for that matter.
What Legend Colin said on that occasion about Diouf has been history from the day after he said it, as all such comment after a game. It has absolutely no relevance to what Colin did for QPR, or to what he thinks is best for his current team. The subject doesn't warrant mention on here.
