We lost to Shrewsbury, but we played a reserve side. We then went on to survive, comfortably, in the Premier league. Friendlies don't mean much, they are simply a warm up game for second string players to show what they can do. Not taking anything away from your win though, it was a good win. But, the attendance of 9,000 shows it for what it is, a meaningless warm up game.

9000 huh, so around the same as you had for Stuttgart yes, was your match also considered meaningless? Newcastle actually had their first choice defense out so at least paid us some respect, but actually I do agree that you can't read too much into preseason games

Yes, it was meaningless. Just a game to get the squad ready for the way ML wishes to play. Had we lost, I wouldn't be bothered. So, the 9,000 does show it for what it is. As I said, I take nothing away from your result, it was a good one and shows your ready.
