Who has said we should do that? I saw someone post it as a sarcastic comment, not at all with any degree of seriousness. Can you post me to the person who said that this is what we should do?
Well if someone was suggesting we play the Spain way - it's easy to forget that Spain actually do have various quality strikers - Villa, Llorente and Torres among others. We might have to play the Spain way out of necessity rather than choice - slightly more disconcerting!
Er - could you tell me which negative opinions I have voiced on this thread? Let alone negative opinions that are based on no information. Any justified negative OR positive opinions are fine IF they are based on actual, footballing evidence - not just team photos or quotes in interviews or pure, blind optimism/pessimism. Perhaps you could point out where I have voiced these types of opinions or given out unjustified negativity?
Sidney clearly suggested it. I could see no reason to assume he was being sarcastic. He did subsequently say he'd had one too many though.
He's comparing our midfield to the best midfield in the World, why would you take it totally seriously?
Sorry - but he's clearly not doing that. He is comparing our midfield with our strikers and finding that the former is a cut above the latter. Which I'm sure we'd all agree with. I'm not saying that his comment is as absurd as Cockney clearly finds it but at the same time it seems silly to deny that he did in fact make it. It's also doing Sidney a disservice to say "Oh - he can't possibly have meant something so stupid - it was clearly sarcastic".
I am a little bemused by just how far ENIC are pushing it this time, but this is classic ENIC tactics, that anyone can recognise who's followed their modus operandi over the years. Push the envelope to the max, sweat the assets, chuck any corporate jargon you like at it - they love to buy cheap, sell dear, and will and have cost us points in pursuit of that philosophy.
We have Adebayor. Give it a couple of days. We may have Leandro by September 1st, but not by Newcastle. If the ITK is to be believed
it was SidneyFiddler as lennypops has taken to time to point out too. and while he may have been trying to be sarcastic, it actually did not come across like that, and I doubt that you know for a fact that you know he was being sarcastic
I have a perfectly good sense of humour and I will display it when someone is actually funny as opposed to just being a knob
To be fair a few posters have said this about us trying to play like spain and I don't think they were kidding, as some seem to believe avb is this tactical god that is going to transform the way we perform, and turn us into a young exciting dynamic team. Now I admire some peoples enthusiasm but as soon as our high line gets torn to shreds and we cross into the box for no one to score, I expect the enthusiasm will damper. Anyhow, now AVB is our manager, he deserves the right backing from Levy and time to implement his ideas but whatever view we have of AVB, if we don't strengthen the strikeforce then he is going to come in for slack when the team doesn't perform.
Hence why Man City are subsidising them. They aren't keen on this, but they need rid of him, so it will happen eventually. Yep, Leandro.
TBH if we do get Leandro - 2 things he will be knackered after the Olympics and also it will take time for him to assimilate into the team. How long did it take Sandro?
We should play VDV up front on his own if we can't get anyone in. He can finish and his link up play is great. Plus, he can be a bit lazier and last a full 90.
Still plenty of time till the window closed, I'm sure you'll be ok for the first what...couple of games? Maybe not ideal against Newcastle...but everyone else is also having a slow transfer window. Bad start didn't stop you last season.
