It will be interesting to see how Yennaris, Jenkinson, Coquelin, Djourou and Bartley do this season, I think they can all do a job, and Yennaris and Coquelin look the most exciting prospects. But I still think we could do with one more top quality defender though, whether that's a CB, RB or someone who can play across the back.

In the ideal scenario I would sign Matts Hummels and Nuri Sahin (on a perm deal).

Yep, looks like he has got ahead of Jenkinson in the pecking order.

Matt Hummels would be a top drawer signing.

Is he even available though ?

I doubt it but he WILL move at somepoint I'm sure. Whoever gets him will probably be landing the most well rounded centreback on the planet.

No, I think they had a bid for him turned down (as did Manchester United)

Dortmund's defensive record is much better than AC Milans over the last few years.
Germany's is better than Brazil's also.

    Hummels is better. Simple as.

Hummels has been playing in a much better set up, when it comes to the national teams. For Dortmund, he has had a more solid partnership alongside him for a few years. Also as a team, they defend much better than Milan and have a really good work ethic. Thaigo Silva carries the defence for both club and country. Nothing showed that more than these Olympics. Hummels got exposed in that semi-final against Italy pretty badly though. Top class defender also, but not better than Silva.

I think the olympics exposed Silva tbh, Brazil's defence in general was shocking, i know most of the blame goes to that Juan, who was dreadful, but Silva didn't cover himself in glory.

And in the Italy game in the euro's, it was Badstuber who had a shocker, and left the whole german defence exposed.

Dont agree. Dortmund are an attacking team. They have an attacking system and score ALOT of goals.

Klopp is known for his very attacking teams yet they only concede around 20-25 goals a season because their two centrebacks are just TOP TOP class.

The Italian league is weaker than it has been for years and Silva's records still does'nt match Hummels' s. I like Silva alot though.

No Way. Without Silva it would have been a proper horror show and he carried that terrible defence to the final. The keeper was like their fifth choice, and Juan is the reserve of a reserve at Inter. Rafael is bloody liability and Marcelo is hardly the best when it comes to defending. Brazil ****ed up with the over 23 picks. Should have sorted that defence.

At least we can agree that Juan is hopeless, makes Squishy look decent.

Not really said much wrong there though.
