Works for me as well. If anything else happens or is needed hopefully we will brave/smart about it in January. Hopefully we will be at least in about the top 4.

Happy with that in the end. Our first 11 is pretty good, although i'm not convinced with some of our back up players.

Starting to feel a bit sorry for Adam - whole crows growning when he didn't do a few things right.

Still some time. I think the team that played against Gomel + Allen will be our starting team until the final day of transfers then pending any buys, things can be mixed up.

One of the people on Bayerns bench (think a coach) looks like my late grandmother... who was actually German...

    Quite uncanny.

    Well thoughts:
Reina- not bad- although clearly not at his best yet.

Defense: Thought Kelly looked very sharp... Carra and Coates looked a little shakey... obviously not our first choice defense though.

Midfield: Lucas and Shelvey looked good... Henderson did OK too... Adam wasn't good... wastefull and Spearing was anonymous.

Sterling had moments of real quality... he could have been Suarez at times. Was quite quiet at times though.
Downing... was he on the field?

Carroll didn't look bad- he came on with the "weaker half" team.

Thought Suarez looked disinterested and too easily dispossessed today.

Overal though- today Sterling was Suarez... Suarez was Carroll... Lucas was genius... Shelvey was Gerrard... Adam was Smicer.

If we get Tello then our front three will be very good, and the three behind. Although atm our starting 11 is very good too, so if we didn't sign anyone else I wouldn't be too worried, as long as we buy in January if its needed.

I understand why they're groaning though, how hard it is to beat the first man from a free kick/cross?

Latest update from Fulham...£10M cash for Depsey, or Adam + £13M instead.

Think Suarez is very tired, he's played a lot of games lately and works very hard in them games. I agree with you about Kelly and Carra, I thought Coates played better than what you're giving him credit for, I remember two shaky moments but he also made a few good clearances that were needed at important times.

I'm glad Carroll had scored, although you can see how much the tempo slows down when he comes on, as well as players like Adam and Spearing, but suppose he will be our plan B.

Lucas was good as usual, plus he scored! <ok> Didn't see much of Henderson but people may disagree, I don't know?

Overall it was a good win and we played well. I look forward to getting the season started again and look forward to seeing if we get more players in <ok>

Adam had a poor game... and a non-spectacular season for us last season... but I think he has something to offer... but not for us... He needs a Blackpool where he is the big cheese. He needs to be the centre of the team... When he is having to be part of a team where he is not the focus- he doesn't shine as much... Unfortunately for him- he's not going to be centre of play at a team like Liverpool... and Rodders doesn't play like that, around a single player, anyway.

I think Adam could go back to being a successful player... but only for a Championship, or lower Premier League team.

True. But things are a lot tougher when you have no morale and you're getting stick from your owne fans, plus someones come in to replace you.

Personally i'd sell him as part of the Dempsey deal and put him out of his misery.

I thought Downing played ok in the first half. Henderson still worries me. Did absolutely nothing again.

I think Carroll can do it for a team - but just not in our system. He came on and the style, speed and movement just went out the window. If we keep him we would need to have a different system to encorporate him - that enough for 35 mill? Or do you sell him and cut your losses?

Pleased with Sterling who should break through this year.

I also think Shelvey is pushing for a start.

Awful commentary on ESPN. David Pleat is a joke. He was pronouncing Coates as Curtis. Its pronounced Kwates in South America and sounds like Coats in Europe. Seb is half Scottish.

very happy with the way our first eleven is shaping up, bit worried about our backup though if we get injuries to key players, esp Spearing and Adam, guess we will see if they are replaced with anyone.

hopefully Adam will be part of a deal to Fulham for Dempsey.

liking the way we are starting to play, and quietly confident for the new season, see a top 6 finish, but who knows could be better.

They are a lot tougher and I understand where you're coming from but I just feel that we're better off getting rid, would rather Dempsey.

I didn't see that much of Henderson to say where or not I thought he played well enough. I think Carroll wants to stay and a lot of fans want him to stay, but if it means he stays, he'll come on and slow everything down, and 35M is a lot for a plan b. I'd rather we try and get as much money for him as possible, then use the money and get a replacement for him.

Shelvey and Sterling both played well, hopefully we'll see more of Sterling this year, scoring as well will give the lad a load of confidence <ok>

Missed the game, but sounds decent considering we changed the team at half time. Heard the passing leading up to Carroll's goal was immense.

Missed the first half but Sterling took his goal well and the free kick looked good (shame Saurez control let him down). Haven't really read through all these posts but it seems like we played well in the first half?

Second didn't look as good but I think that's probably because only Reina will be starting come next Saturday. Think it really does show strength in depth when we have Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Allen to come into that first half team.

Rodgers mentioned in the interview afterwards although pleased with the squad he still needs to bring in one or two more to help those we already have. A versatile defender and another striker would be my guess.

A agree with everything except the last part. I can't see Liverpool signing defenders. Its attacking players we need, he's already said he wants to add raw pace to the side, so one of the players will be an winger. Not sure on the other one. However I still cant see it being a defender.
