Well thank you for the goal Carroll...

Does anyone think we're playing more "Dalglish-style" and less "Rodders-style" this half though? Certainly more a Dalglish inspired XI. We don't seem to be playing the same pressing football we did first half... like the goal- and still seem the stronger of the two teams- but I liked the attacking 1st half more (obviously we have a lead now so maybe Rodgers told them to ease off a little).

Keep talking about how Sterling not being given enough of the ball but it's crossed my mind that BR has instructed that it doesn't go out left too often just to protect him while getting minutes?

    Too devious maybe?

Henderson has stood out for me so far, looks really comfortable on the ball and is finding space really well, in a very similar role to what Allen would play

Darn... bye bye clean sheet... Credit where credit is due though good strike. We still look the better team though- although not as dominant as first half.

Right after conceeding is probably not usually the time to promote a defender... but Kelly has looked good today- frequently covering up the deficiencies of some of the other defenders.

Coates should have closed down after Carra got beat there but can't take away from the finish.

Coates speed of play and speed in general can be worrying at times. Could use a Hyypia to learn how to use positioning to make up for it.

    This has gone crap.

I'm never a fan of ripping the heart out of the team at half time.

No but friendlies are not about winning- they're about getting match fitness and evaluating the squad and getting them to learn to play together. We really weakened the team at half-time but it will probably help BR confirm that who he picked first was the right starters.

Just shows how important Lucas is. So much better than Spearing and Adam put together.

Yeah; always thought it made international friendlies absolutely pointless. Surely a manager sees no more than he does in training.

And more to the point: how does the like if Carroll prove his worth (goal aside) if you take the best off in supply? Same goes for any position really. Maybe coaches see more in this situation than a punter like me.

Well think of it as two seperate teams, two styles and two different sets of players trying to impress. First half was good, second half was not quite as good, but does show promise, Carroll and Henderson look the best of the second lot, Coates having a good game as well.
