- tbh I reckon managers always go for getting them in early, what is to be gained from going late ? There's less time to negotiate; desperation pushes prices up; less time to gel; no pre-season training with the squad; after the season has started; and probably more.
It is pre season at the end of the day. Results mean little. I couldn't comment if there have been the little positives you try to take from each game. It is always nice to win a few but pre season games are often awash with heavy legged players well below their best. Its the same in any sport. Some of our Olympians were cack leading up to the championships, its all about peaking at the right time. All that said I am a little surprised by everyones lack of signings at this stage. Ideally you want them in at the start of pre season, certainly anyone who is gonna be central to how you play. I think you need a couple of those guys. Striker is an obvious area (they will often dictate how you play and I'm pretty sure he'll want a target man). And something in the middle of the park, that bit of class to dictate the pace of a game.
Alive and well little boy, not sure what that has to do with you though. If you want to bicker why not set up a thread on your own board (Boro)?
Niall, Leave it kiddo, the board would be better if this sort of thing was knocked on the head and the only discussions are football related. This is a good forum and it would be sad for everyone to leave.
The place wouldn't be as good without them, obviously wumming needs to stop but a lot of the mags are good posters mate.
This with bigg brass bells on. In my 37 years (today) on the earth I cannot remember a good per season turning into a good season. You learn a lot more losing than you do winning. O'Neill said that last season after the storming run when he joined which ended as a damp squib. Poor or average per season us better for us IMO.
