AUGSBURG 2, QPR 2 twitterfacebookemailprint PUBLISHED 16:45 11th August 2012 by @OfficialQPR Cisse bags a brace, as Rangers twice come from behind to earn draw ... DJIBRIL Cisse scored twice for Rangers, who twice had to come from behind to earn a draw against German Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg at the SGL arena. In the final fixture of the Râs pre-season campaign, Mark Hughesâs men were behind after 17 minutes when Aristide Bance struck from the penalty spot. Cisse levelled in emphatic fashion in the 33rd minute, before the home side restored their advantage thanks to an Anton Ferdinand own goal just four minutes later. But QPR werenât to be denied and, after Junior Hoilett put the French hot-shot through on goal in the 55th minute, Cisse made no mistake from 12 yards. Meanwhile, Ryan Nelsen made his Râs debut, while Ale Faurlin also made a long-awaited comeback from injury when introduced as a second-half substitute. The best chance of the opening stanza arrived for the hosts on six minutes. Knowledge Musona found space down the right before cutting the ball back to Bance, who fired over from inside the box. Eleven minutes later, Augsburg were in front from the penalty spot. The home side were originally awarded the spot-kick after Banceâs fierce free-kick was adjudged to have struck the arm of Nelsen. Bance stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards, drilling a low effort into the middle of the goal. Augsburg went close once again on 30 minutes, with Giovanni Sio dispossessing Nelsen before firing wide. Rangers were finding chances hard to come by but levelled with their first opportunity of the contest on 33 minutes. Nedum Onuohaâs through pass may have evaded Kieron Dyer but it didnât Cisse, who latched on to the ball before firing an unstoppable low effort into the bottom right-hand corner. QPR only remained on level terms for four minutes, however, with a mix-up in the visitorsâ rear-guard handing Augsburg their second goal of the afternoon. A long ball forward sparked confusion between Ferdinand and Rob Green, with the latter heading past his own goalkeeper. Green went some way to atoning for that earlier error three minutes before the break, beating away Sioâs long-range effort. Rangers came out for the second period with a greater sense of purpose and, with that, almost drew level for a second time in the 52nd minute. It was nearly a second goal for Cisse too, who saw his looped effort following Taarabtâs delicious pass crash back off the bar. Three minutes later, Rangers were level. Hoilettâs exemplary cross-field ball put Cisse in the clear, who finished with aplomb when inside in the box. Augsburg went mightily close to regaining the lead again on 58 minutes, with the lively Bance seeing his half-volley loop just wide of the left-hand post. Perhaps the biggest cheer of the afternoon from the travelling Râs contigent arrived on 77 minutes, after Faurlin made his long-awaited comeback from injury as a replacement for Ji-Sung Park. Green had to be at his best again to keep Dominik Reinhardt out on 81 minutes, before Rangers saw strong appeals for a penalty waived away two minutes from time when Fabio da Silva went down under challenge in the box. QPR: Green, Derry (Taarabt 46), Ferdinand, Onuoha, Park (Faurlin 77), Dyer (Wright-Phillips 46), Cisse (Zamora 77), Mackie, Fabio, Nelsen, Hoilett. At this stage I just can't see what our team for Swansea will be. Is MH keeping his cards close to his chest? I'm guessing Diakite and Park in the middle with SWP and Hoilett on the wings, Cisse up front with Adel playing behind him....anyone else want to have a crack?
"QPR only remained on level terms for four minutes, however, with a mix-up in the visitors’ rear-guard handing Augsburg their second goal of the afternoon." Only able to see on small free video but looked a shambles at the back for this goal. I know it's only a friendly but...
I think Adel may be on the bench as he's playing for Morrocco on Wednesday! Could be this if we don't sign anyone else: -------------------------Green------------------------ Onouha------------Ferdinand------Nelson--------Fabio Mackie--------------Park----Diakite------------Hoilett -----------------Zamora--------Cisse-----------------
