What will be the everlasting iconic moment for you? For me there have been so many defining moments. But to top it all has to be Mo Farah's gold in last nights 5,000m. The Daily Mail printed a list of plastic Brits before the Olympics and Mo was one of them. How they must be chumping on their Frosties this morning.... Twats!
this is probably my favourite
I saw all the Bolt finals (haven't seen as much of the games as I'd like to be honest) and they're pretty special because he's the best athlete of a generation. The woman's boxing just being there is pretty good because I remember all the documentaries about Jane Couch and the struggles to get the sport recognised.
During my work day they changed the back roads around Wimbledon to a one way system, heading home I drove my normal route without thinking and ended up going down the wrong way almost taking out the Swiss tennis team!! Don't think I will forget this in a hurry!
It would be good if could get to 30 golds! Are there enough medals left at stake for the Russians to knock us down to 4th spot in the table?
That golden hour last Saturday night, with Mo, the long jumper bloke and gorgeous Jess all winning GOLD!! Spectacular!!
For me there have been many great moments, but the best medal successes have been the unexpected ones, not just the ones like Jessica Ennis or Mo Farah (great as they were) that were a little more expected. Jade Jones' gold in Taekwondo was special, as was the performances by both Hockey teams, the equestrian teams outperformed all expectations, and seeing Tom Daley's delight at getting the bronze last night was cool. Overall though, the stadia, the locations, and the delivery of the entire games package was the highlight. Shows what our nation can do when we put our minds and effort into it.
Have a question for fan GB, been thinking about this since the olympics started. I see on this forum a number of posts raising the question 'where were you when we were ****' to qpr fans. Well, prior to Beijing GB were rarely among the top nations. Your performance here has been exceptional but do you ask the same question of each other? Is the success now attracting you to the olympics?
I think the fact it's been in London is more of an attracting factor, it took about 5 days to win a gold for us and it didn't seen to diminish the enthusiasm, but good performances from the locals always helps
I can hand on heart say that I won't watch any athletics, swimming or horse dancing until Rio 2016. It's been nice to watch a few new sports but everyone fapping about Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis and the rest having never given a toss about the sports before can be a bit cringey I find.
The Olympics has always been a special event, however the draw of the sports isn't because we are doing so well, it's because the time of the events is so accessible. Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 were at stupid times during the night, and whilst Rio won't be so bad in 2016, you are still looking at events starting at 1pm and finishing somewhere close to 4am. This year, we have all be able to watch whatever we wanted, and have become involved emotionally as well as fans with the Team GB athletes, whose stories have been there for us to learn and whose abilities we have admired. One call out I absolutely have to make is to good old Auntie. This year, the BBC coverage of the entire Games has been phenomenally good, with 24 extra channels, coverage of every event, catch up tv, detailed analysis, as a sports fan I have been spoiled rotten. Well done BBC - if the demise of the old 606 paid (in part) for that covereage, then it was well worth it.
My favourite Yorkshire moment? The drunken tool that lobbed the bottle before the 100 metre final. You can take the boy from Leeds...
