Bent made a move which he felt was better for him and his family and is now reaping the rewards of some quality service down at Villa so good luck to Bent and Villa but lets concentrate on getting out of this suicidle slump.
"Of course. I had good times there. I never want to see them struggle." - Darren Bent. Thank you, Darren. We had good times with you here, too. I hope your England career blossoms as I believe you deserve it. - Cuteybuns Bent's goals saved our club from relegation less than one year ago, and yet by September when he was struggling as a single striker because Gyan wasn't ready yet, so many people were already saying drop him. Disloyal? - Pot ... kettle ... black? O.k. Bill, I don't remember you saying things like that, and I hope you won't take this as a personal comment - it isn't. But Bent's been a lot more gracious in the statement above than many on these boards were to him, even when he was still here. We had good times together, and now it's over. Good luck to the lad.
As I've just put on 606, it looks like ã24m. was too low a price. Villa got a bargain and we certainly miss his goals.
As much as we miss his goals, ã24million for a player who didn't want to be here is very decent. I'm confident we'll survive this season and then we push on into the summer looking for a git massive striker to help Gyan with a tonne of cash in the bank ready to spend.
To be fair cuteybuns I was one saying drop him as he was doing nothing at all and was obviously feeling the pressure of seeing Welbeck playing well and scoring also having just come back from what was his first injury for us. He can afford to be gracious with his signing on money in his back pocket and if he really felt that bad about it why did he leave?
Who the hell are we going to attract next season? no-one in Bent's class, maybe Doyle or someone like that
No talc, we're talking about two different periods here. I'm talking about September when he was playing up front on his own. I remember writing on 606 that the single striker tactic makes it too easy for opposing defences - they just put two or three on Bent and bottle him up. And yet some people were saying drop him then. I didn't feel that was fair -after all, he didn't pick the team or decide the tactics. You're right that he wasn't playing at his best in November after his injury. What made it difficult was having to learn to gell with Gyan, who'd come on stream by then. It was never going to be easy because Gyan is a lot different sort of player to Jones. And I just felt that they were never going to gell if we started dropping one of them. However, if you felt we should have, that's just a difference of opinion. Fair enough. I don't think anyone imagines he feels bad about it. It's very clear how happy he is at Villa. But you say he can afford to be gracious with his signing on money in his back pocket - don't you think we can afford it with ã24m in ours? I was devastated when he left, and we do miss him badly. But, y'know, looking at Villa's midfield service next to ours, I can't honestly blame him for going there. It saddens me to say it, but he'd have been daft not to go really.
The greedy bastard can go shove apples up his ring piece for all I care. If he's not the main man then he shrinks into his own foreskin. I had some good time with a long ago ex girlfriend until I caught her with a supposed mate, now I hate her ****ing guts. Simple. Wouldn't bother me one jot if the Bent **** ended up on the football scrapheap. Good riddance to the filth bag, .
Me niether Bill, made his bed, went to a bigger club, and now he is not looking too good.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,YIPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE
