The home fans had a great expectation of their team at the time, having seen Gillingham score a total of 12 goals in their previous four games. Five of those goals came in a FA Cup first round replay, resulting in a 3-2 home victory over League One side AFC Bournemouth. At that point in the season it was to be the highest attendance at Priestfield of 7,074, mainly due to a promotion of Adult tickets at £10 for the game and under 16’s at £5 per ticket. The game kicked off and within the first five minutes the Gills nearly opened the scoring, with Jo Kuffour see a superb early effort come off the post at the Rainham End. After that, it all went wrong, it just turned in to an absolute dour game of football. It was to be no goal feast that the fans had turned up to see, no pretty football, allowing the ball to be constantly launched skywards. It was not the way we were previously playing our best football, it was not the way we had beat Bournemouth in midweek. So despite an early Gills opportunity and also very late flurry, Bradford got the deserved point they had come for and were probably unlucky not to take all three. Jack Payne was named man of the match, although how anyone decided who was man of the match was beyond me. If I had to make a decision it would not have gone to the customary Gills player but Bradford’s number 32 Reid. The good part of that day was the Gills had moved up a place and in to the play off’s, due to Shrewsbury beating Morecambe. Gillingham 01 Flitney 03 Frampton 06 Richards 12 Martin 15 Lawrence (booked) 04 Lee 08 Payne 10 Weston 09 Kedwell (Montrose - 79) 29 Nouble (Payne - 84) 33 Kuffour Substitutes 28 Gazzaniga 16 Fish 19 Montrose 11 Oli 23 Payne

brb match view and prediction: The first game is always difficult to base any prediction or view... Gills 5 0 Bradford (Kedwell, Whelpdale, Jackman, Birchall x2) Going for a flying start a la against Swindon a few years ago. Surely the match won't be a bad as last time out??????
gills4ever - no problem, I know we have the Bristol City game first but I always tend to put the thread up a week before the game, because I know some of our members might only get the time to look in on here at weekends.
What a dramatic summer for the Gills, glad the new season is nearly here, Gills 3-0 Bradford (Kedwell,Burton,Strevens) cmon u Gills!
Gills 2 Bradford 1 (Kedwell,Burton,Hanson) I would like to remind everyone that I will be winning this year.UTG!!!!!!!!!
Gillingham 2 Bradford City 0 (Burton, Jackman), more in hope than expectation, but do believe that if we get off to a good start we can go all the way
Gillingham 3-0 Bradford (Kedwell, Whelpdale, Dack) I am going for Dack to get his first goal as I think he will play, either as a sub or starter.
Gillingham 2-0 Bradford (Charlie Lee, Kedwell) A Lee scorcher and a penalty I reckon... Come on you blues!
